I came across some news bits for some movies that will be marketed at this year’s Comic Con, the first review of The Amazing Spider-Man seems to be out there and a local NC news station might have some set photos of Iron Man 3 and a nice bonus bit.
Let’s check it out…
Comic Con
Comic Con cranks it up, starting on July 11th. Let the marketing deluge begin!!!
First up… the expectation is that there will be no big push for The Dark Knight Rises. Folks believe Christopher Nolan avoids these events like the plague… though I did see his at WonderCon a few years ago on a panel… but it was one of his rare Con appearances.
But with The Dark Knight Rises opening right after SDCC, I’d be surprised if there wasn’t something in the form of statis displays or even a surprise event that just “pops” up. We’ll see.
But as far as movies that are showing up at the con, here’s the low-down on the probable candidates that may have some footage with them (Schedules and such are never permanent):
-
- M. Night Shyamalan‘s After Earth,
- Here Comes the Boom,
- Iron Man 3,
- Zack Snyder‘s Man of Steel,
- Oz: The Great and Powerful,
- Guillermo del Toro‘s Pacific Rim,
- Premium Rush,
- The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,
- The Lone Ranger. (If they have enough money to go!),
- Thor 2,
- Total Recall remake,
- Wreck-It Ralph.
-
Oh, and along with Django Unchained, Quentin Tarantino is bringing 3 train trucks for a party. NOW, we’re talking.

The First Review of The Amazing Spider-Man
First, be warned that this first movie review of The Amazing Spider-Man is a great example of how small our planet is getting… because it’s from a Belgian website.
And yes, the rumors might be true about a after-credits scene.
Comic Book Movie had the review translated and here are some snippets:
Andrew Garfield is the perfect Peter Parker. He has the gift to us both in emotion and bring us up to laugh. He is slim, yet muscular, he possesses both a fragile and a dark side.
-
the comic very realistically translate to the big screen
-
scene where Peter Parker becomes aware of his super powers a masterpiece with a nod to the works of Charlie Chaplin.
-
The Amazing Spider-Man succeeds in an interesting and innovative mix.
In other words, it seems to rock as far as they are concerned.
Some would consider this a spoiler. If so, just skip to the IM3 piece, otherwise:
The reviewer said that after the credits, the extra scene would seem to indicate that Irrfan Khan will be the Proto-Goblin in the next movie.
What surprises me about that was that I suspected Proto-Goblin to be in this movie. Back in January of 2011, I was talking about the Nels Van Adder character being in the movie and that in the franchise, he does go on to become the Proto-Goblin.

Iron Man 3
Iron Man 3 will be headed to Wilmington next week for an outside, night-time shoot that will involve 3 main cast members, 91 extras and 150 film crew.
Right now they constructing a set that has an Asian architectural look to it.

Bonus Bit
Killer Film came across a fan created movie poster for The Dark Knight Rises, and it celebrates the three different Batman movies from Christopher Nolan. It’s pretty cool. KF didn’t know who the artist is, but if/when I find out, I’ll be adding that info, because they deserve the recognition for this great work:
l looked around, but I only found other fan-made posters with the combined bat logo, but right away, I didn’t see any with the characters in it… this is nicely done and the artist does deserve credit. I’ll keep looking.
