The new shaped spoiler that is replacing the wing on the present day configuration of the Cup car is going to get it’s day on the test track.
March 16th at Talladega is when the test is scheduled and the test is open to all teams.
The timing for the tests is such that if all goes well, NASCAR just might install the spoilers for the next short track races, and onward, as they graduate to larger tracks after that.

With NASCAR making this change, I know it’s a tiny step in the direction of the sleeker looking racecar, but I’m concerned that this change may actually lead to more little changes to the car down the road.
I enjoyed the look of the previous body, but it had its issues with regards to who had what on their nose pieces. Who had more draft, less draft, etc., etc.
If they start even considering sleeker looking noses, my guess is that they’ll control it as sternly as they have the new car from the get-go.

They Just did a test of the new spoiler at Texas and it sounds like the results were pretty good.
I don’t like the looks of the wing as it is, so hopefully the new spoiler will work out.
