Carl Edwards wrecks before the start finish line at Talladega NASCAR race

In response to Carl Edwards solo flight at the NASCAR event at Talladega, a few things are taking place.

One of those things is that the track itself is taking proactive measures and raising the catch fence from 14 to 22 feet.

In Edwards’ altercation, a bit of debris got over the fence and teenage girl had suffered a broken jaw.

The front stretch fence will be raised prior to the November 1st race, while the backstretch fence will be adjusted during the off-season.

Though these kind of events can occur on either and they should strive to fix both before November 1, but that’s just my take on the matter.

As it is, it’s a good job in responding to this issue.

When you go to the races, you want to come away with an experience, not a broken jaw.

I’m good with this one, though I have to wonder how the visibility for fans will be like, now that the fence will be higher.

I agree with you, Bruce. I will let you know if the visibility is restricted on the front stretch. My seats are in the OVHS Tower Section I Row 73. I believe these seats are just before the start finish line. Never have been to Talladega before, but I got the opportunity to go and away I am going!

Leon – I think I hate you! LOL.

That’s awesome. I’ve seen video footage from a friend of mine showing the crowd in the stands when the pack of cars go by, and it’s amazing to see them get buffeted by the winds created by the cars.

Have fun bud!
