NASCAR TV Coverage Says Goodbye Digger, Hello TNT

RaceBuddy TNT NASCAR Race Coverage

With the Coca-Cola 600 in the record books, that also meant we say goodbye to Fox Sports coverage of NASCAR and hello to TNT’s auto racing coverage to commence for the next 6 NASCAR Cup races.

The sad part is that TNT gets stuck with 2 Pocono races in their otherwise usually good race coverage.  This is the 27th consecutive year that TNT will be covering NASCAR and that’s a big number for any network to stay with any sport.

I really enjoy the coverage that TNT brings us.  We can watch the race on TV, or we can “tune” in to the internet as they stream the races and this year, they’re including some fan sweepstakes to be part of the online event.  As far as TNT is concerned, the simultaneous delivery of TV and online content serves to compliment each other.  TNT’s research shows them that when viewers are engaged online, they tend to watch more of the televised coverage to boot.  That’s saying a lot, considering it’s Pocono.

As far as the sweepstakes go, there will be a $1 million dollar contest to predict the top-10 finishers in each race that TNT covers.  The super cool part is that even after you’ve made your picks, you can still change those choices up to 25% into the race coverage!

Niice.

TNT will also be letting online viewers toss questions at the reporters via RaceBuddy.

I’ve never had a complaint about TNT’s coverage because if they do miss something, I’m probably already watching it online in some form or another!  Of course, TNT spoils me and I cringe when they leave the coverage scene.   For one, it’s free.  No sign ups, just crank up your internet and away we go.  That and I can hope that ABC has heard our grumblings and will respond with the action of improved race coverage.
