Cinema Static DVD / Blu-ray Releases For January 12th, 2010.
This week some great films finally get their due and all three of my movie picks were limited releases. Also, I’ve decided not to list releases of older films that are being repackaged in 2 or 4 packs. There a few exceptions but I don’t want to bog down the list with too many of them.
My movie pick this week is Moon, a great Science Fiction film that never really had a chance in the theaters. Moon was brilliant and would have made its money back easily. Now finally everyone will get to see how great it really is.
Honorable mentions also go out to The Hurt Locker and In The Loop. In the Loop is the British post 9-11 comedy. Ironically I watched all three of these films in the same theater.
My TV Pick of the week is The Simpsons: The Complete Twentieth Season that’s 20 years of Doah aaaaah, Doah!!! Amazing!
My Blu-ray pick of the week is, ok don’t laugh, Last Action Hero. Here’s a film that seriously needed some re-mastering. The original full screen DVD print always looked horrible. Finally it will get the widescreen cleaned up print it deserves. Last Action Hero was Arnold’s first legit flop, but it’s a fun film that just needed better writing, editing and writing. Did I mention that already? Honorable mention, The Matrix finally accepts the Blu-ray pill.
