This Tues, June 26th, 2012, the new DVD and Blu-ray releases coming out include the acting styles of Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, Jean Dujardin, Sam Worthington, Glenn Close and more.

Last week a few new releases competed with the top-selling lists, but I’m confounded about one of the top selling titles.
The No. 1 seller last week was Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows with Robert Downey Jr.. That makes sense to me, considering the movie was well received across the board by fans and critics.
But…
The No. 2 seller last week was Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance with Nicolas Cage. I’m confused with this one. Critics and movie fans alike gave this movie a bit of a dour reception, but sales are sales.
Safe House was the 3rd best seller, Act of Valor and John Carter rounded out the top-five DVD sellers for the week ending Jun 16, per Rentrak.

For new releases coming out June 26th, we have the following:
TV:
Damages
The Complete Fourth Season, with Glenn Close, Rose Byrn and John Goodman is up.
I haven’t caught this latest season but I’ve enjoyed the first three immensely. John Goodman can deliver fascinating characters. I bet this was a fun season!
-
Lego Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu
Season 1 is coming out for this title.
-
Law & Order: Criminal Intent
Season, or as they’re calling it, Year Seven with Vincent D’Onofrio, Chris Noth and more. Has anyone caught this latest season? If any regular viewers of the show caught this, please chime in and let us know what you thought!
-
Dora the Explorer: Dora’s Rescue in Mermaid Kingdom
-
RuPaul’s Drag Race
Season 4 Starring RuPaul is coming out this week.
-
Here’s a fascinating new title:
Mars in 3D: Images from The Viking Mission [Blu Ray 3D] [Blu-ray]
-
Of course, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention
Iron Man: Armored Adventures Season 2 Vol 1.
-
Other than that, I don’t see other shows we’d be interested in.

Movies
Ah, here go a few titles I think people will be interested in. First up…
21 Jump Street
With Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, Brie Larson and Dave Franco. This movie was rated over on IMDb users at a big time 7.4 out of 10.
This tells me it’s worthy of something. For me, a rental for sure but for others, a new title to add to their collection.
Is that weird or what? If you’re a Channing Tatum fan, you are going to have the weirdest collection of movies… G.I. Joe (With some bad CGI effects), this, and Magic Mike. quite the diversity!

The Artist
This movie stars Jean Dujardin, Bérénice Bejo, John Goodman. I haven’t seen it but the user score is another huge number with an 8.2! Usually anything over 6 is acceptable enough for me, but 8.2!? Whew!
-
Wrath of the Titans
This movie stars Sam Worthington and Liam Neeson reprising their roles from the first movie.
I didn’t think it was that bad and more or less looked at it as a fun time-killer, but it has a 5.9 rating.
Zoinks! Do you think that’s at least worthy of a rental?
-
Mirror Mirror
This movie has Lily Collins, Sean Bean, Julia Roberts and Armie Hammer in it. I remember the trailers looking cute.
Fellow comedy fans gave this one a 5.6 score. Eh, I’ll be waiting until it comes to one of my pay or free TV channels.
-
Then there’s an anime title,
Tales of Vesperia – Movie
-
A Thousand Words with Eddie Murphy, but I’m thinking you might want to wait… at least with a 5.2 score, that’s what I’m thinking.
-
A couple of worthy mentions?
A Christopher Nolan’s Director’s Collection on Blu-ray is coming out… This package includes Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Inception, Memento and Insomnia.
I’d say this is awesome, but personally, I’d wonder if another might not be coming once The Dark Knight Rises comes out to the home entertainment market.
-
Then there’s this classic that refuses to go away, and that’s the Blu-ray release for Deliverance, with Jon Voight and Burt Reynolds.

New DVD and Blu-ray releases at Amazon
I don’t see anything else of note, but you might want to take a look yourself to make sure we’re on the same page or not!

Next week’s new releases include nothing big… unless you count the Barbarella Blu-ray version a big thing… but that’s just “coincidental” timing with the static we’re hearing about a new Barbarella project.
The week after that is Warehouse 13‘s third season coming out.
