It’s another week where more new DVD & Blu-ray titles hit the store shelves and online pages on Tuesday, August 21, 2012.
Last week, the highly anticipated movie, The Hunger Games, came out. I didn’t buy it but I did rent it and watched it again. It’s a great movie that you can’t help but watch with an air of horror and disdain. Horror at what the 12-18 year-olds are put through in this horrid society and disdain for the mindless decadence that the citizens of the Capitol lives in. Catch it if you already haven’t. It’s a great movie.
This week, the new releases are dominated by TV titles, splattered with an occasional movie title in there, but I’ll dig deep to see what movies there are out there.
Last Week
Last week’s big seller was the new DVD title, Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax, followed by Hatfields & McCoys TV series, The Three Stooges, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows and Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol rounding out the top-5 in sales.
The rental scene looked a touch different. The Lorax led the rentals, but it was followed by Lockout, American Reunion, Silent House and The Three Stooges. [Rentrak]

This Week’s New TV Releases
This week, NCIS, The Closer, Revenge, & House lead the pack of new sales. What I find refreshing is that of these new titles, there’s no part 1 of season x, or volume 1 of season x. It’s the season, the whole season, and nothing but the season! (I think it’s a cheap trick to split up seasons and make people buy a whole season in two nearly full-priced packages, but that’s just me. I could be wrong.)
