Welcome to the New DVD Release Report for the week of June 1st, 2010 from Cinema Static. Alice In Wonderland takes us into the first week of June and it seems like this film just came out a few days ago. I can’t remember a faster movie to DVD turnaround for a blockbuster. The Wolfman remake is also clawing for your DVD dollar as well as a ton of Clint Eastwood re-issues. So many in fact that I left most of them out. Needless to say if your looking for any films Mr. Eastwood has starred in or directed they’re now available repackaged for 2010.
DVD MOVIE OF THE WEEK
My DVD movie of the week is surprise, surprise, Alice In Wonderland! Tim Burton, Johnny Depp and Cast have created the most stunning version if this bizarre tale yet. It will be decades before anyone would dare remake this film. Well maybe a decade? OK at least 6 years. {My honorable mentions are ~ highlighted ~ in the movie list.}
DVD TV SERIES/DOCUMENTARY OF THE WEEK
My DVD pick of the week is Rescue Me: The Complete Fifth Season. I hope they never cancel that show! There is also a new Ghost Hunters best of DVD, as well as the 2009 U2 concert at the Rose Bowl in California. The stage alone was a modern marvel. U2: 360° at the Rose Bowl is available on June 3.
BLU-RAY PICK OF THE WEEK
“Band of Brothers with The Pacific Part One” is my Blu-ray pick of the week. This would have a been a perfect release last Tuesday with the Memorial Day weekend. WTH?!, heads would roll if I were running that studio! There’s also a ton of Clint Eastwood films on Blu-ray, however they were never filmed in (High Def) so your really just paying for a Blu-ray filtration re-issue. Personally I like to watch old westerns more or less the way they were filmed. Putting them through the Blu-ray process isn’t needed. Its almost like colorizing black and white classics…
Anyway, here’s this week’s list of DVD releases. “Again sorry Eastwood fans there wasn’t enough space (tired of typing) in the post to include every single re-release. You would think they could space them out over a month. No let’s release them all tomorrow!” ;-O

RENTAL/USED DVD OF THE WEEK
My rental used DVD of the week is, Knowing, starring Nicolas Cage. This was a remarkable film that deserves a full review. Please read my Knowing movie review following this report if your interested in a great science fiction classic.
