Welcome to the New DVD Release report from Cinema Static for the week of May 25th, 2010. It’s a rather mediocre week, but none the less full of some great releases! The big one being HBO’s, “True Blood: The Complete Second Season!” On Blu-ray there’s some long awaited Troma releases coming at ya, including “Class of Nuke ‘Em High”, ”Surf Nazis Must Die” and “Tromeo and Juliet!.”

My DVD Movie pick of the week is, “The Road.” A rather dismal film yet a film everyone should see! The performances are epic, and the story is spellbinding!

DVD TV SERIES/DOCUMENTARY OF THE WEEK
My DVD TV pick of the week is, “Leverage: The Complete Second Season” which is a cool show that reminds me a lot of the A-Team. This is one of those shows that I watch through DVDs only.

“Class of Nuke ‘Em High [Blu-ray]” is my Blu-ray pick of the week. One of the greatest Troma films of all time!

RENTAL/USED DVD OF THE WEEK
My Rental/Used DVD of the week is the 2007 film, “SUNSHINE” directed by Academy Award Winning “Slumdog Millionaire” Director Danny Boyle.
In the year 2057 mankind’s existence is threatened by a dying sun. A crew of eight are sent to deliver a massive nuclear weapon to ignite the failing star and save Earth. Things don’t go as planned as they discover the previous ship never reached its destination. A decision is made that results in jeopardizing the entire mission. Its up the last remaining crew members to deliver the payload. Unfortunately an unexpected presence is about to stop them…
It’s that good! ”SUNSHINE” deserves a full review! A truly brilliant film with a amazing soundtrack and spectacular visuals. The cast is made up of mostly B-Listers, including Chis Evens (Human Torch), Cillian Murphy (Scarecrow) and Rose Byrne (Ellen Parsons).
Boyle pulls off an amazing film that reminds me of 2001/2012 and Aliens. A very satisfying sci fi epic that even though somewhat predictable, entertains to the last moment! The imagery is worth a rental if not full on purchase. 9 out of 10! Great film!

NEXT WEEK IN DVD/BLU-RAY
OK, didn’t “Alice In Wonderland” with Johnny Depp come out like 2 days ago? Anyway its coming out next week on DVD. A definite purchase for me! ”Burn Notice: Season Three” tops the TV section, and Clint Eastwood’s Warner Brothers collection hits the Blu-ray shelves!
