New movies for the upcoming Memorial Day weekend holiday, there are two power-hitters… The Hangover Part II and Kung Fu Panda 2 and they’re opening this Thursday, May 26th, in theaters.
Basically, it’s the battle of the sequels and I’m betting bucks that Kung Fu Panda 2 will take the box office by storm! I’m banking that each adult will be accompanied by at least one other, aka, small humanoid in their life that wants to see the movie. Other new movies at the box office include The Tree of Life, The Abduction of Zack Butterfield & Tied to a Chair!
A Cinema Static tidbit: One of my instructors … instructed me on the proper pronunciation of Kung Fu sounds like “gung foo.” Thought you’d find that curious!

The Hangover Part II
.
From Warner Bros. Pictures: Starring Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, Justin Bartha, Ken Jeong, Paul Giamatti and Mike Tyson … again, as those pesky guys, after surviving the bachelor party in Vegas, head to Thailand for Stu’s wedding. Stu’s plan for a subdued pre-wedding brunch, however, goes seriously awry… again, in The Hangover Part II.
LOL.
Todd Phillips returns as director and returning as the “Mr. Creepy” character in the movie. When I first saw that this was coming out, I wasn’t all that motivated by it… I mean what new stuff can they get into? But the later movie trailers seem to hit some new material.
If you liked the first one, I presume you will like this one.

Kung Fu Panda 2
.
From Paramount Pictures: Po, voiced by Jack Black, is back for more animated kung-fu action in Kung Fu Panda 2! With the voice power of Angelina Jolie, Gary Oldman, Seth Rogen, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Jackie Chan, Dustin Hoffman, David Cross, & Lucy Liu joining Jack, as Po joins forces with a group of new kung-fu masters to take on an old enemy with a deadly new weapon.
Directed by Jennifer Yuh, who was the story artist for the first part, this is her first movie directorial effort. First time directors worry me, but I don’t know how direction impacts animated features.
Regardless, I bet it will do great at the box office and I’m going to guess, will beat out The Hangover Part II.
