New Movies This WeekThis week we have new movies coming out on Friday, 11/2/12 with Russel Crowe, Denzel Washington, John C. Reilly (voice) & Alicia Silverstone in them.

A few of the new offerings look promising, but others, well, we’ll see if they even stay in the top-10 charts.

First up…

From director/writer RZA & Eli Roth (This is RZA’ diectorial debut), is a story about

A band of warriors, assassins, and a rogue British soldier descend upon a village in feudal China looking for treasures of gold.  But happens is a humble blacksmith looks to defend himself and his fellow villagers.

It stars RZA, Rick Yune, Russell Crowe, Lucy Liu.

Flight
R, 2 hr 18 min

Flight movie poster

A noteworthy looking movie starring Denzel Washington, from filmmaker Robert Zemeckis, this is a story about…

An airline pilot saves a flight from crashing, but an investigation into the malfunctions reveals something troubling.

The movie has just under 900 user rating votes on IMDb and it’s pulling a [7.6/10].  So not only was I expecting good, it seems that folks are already backing that up.

Hmm, between the two above, I’d have to go with Flight.  And if Eli Roth is involved with RZA’s movie, there’s bound to be a wonderfully senseless amount of gore and splatter! Plus, as a movie consumer, I’m thinking that for the same ticket price, you seem to get more movie with Denzel’s movie.

Wreck-It Ralph
PG, 1 hr 41 min

This looks like a cute, fun movie for the entire family, and it’s always good to have a family option in theaters.

Directed by Rich Moore, the voice cast includes  John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer, Jane Lynch, Alan Tudyk (Hey, I was just talking about his old show, Firefly, Mindy Kaling, Ed O’Neill, Dennis Haysbert …

“A video game villain wants to be a hero and sets out to fulfill his dream, but his quest brings havoc to the whole arcade where he lives.”

Vamps

This looks like a comedic attempt at the vampire genre, starring  Alicia Silverstone & Krysten Ritter.

“Two female vampires in modern-day New York City are faced with daunting romantic possibilities.”

It’s directed by Amy Heckerling, writer for the Clueless TV series and movie of the same name.
