But before we move on to the new movies this Friday, check out the box office numbers from last weekend.

Brusimm Box Office ReportWhether you liked the movie or not, fans still want to go see The Dark Knight Rises, as proven by the $36M weekend, as Batman dusted the dreams of Total RecallTotal Recall only made $26M and that was followed up by Diary of the Wimpy Kid: Dog Days, which pulled in just under $15M.

(Of course now that Recall has floundered, everyone is starting to chime in with what I was saying for the last few weeks.  I was just brave enough to spout my worries about this remake long before they did.)

Yet The Dark Knight Rises reminds me of the Transformers movies, as far as the box office performance goes.  Reviews are mixed about the movie but fans are still flocking.  I liked the movie, as far as a fan is concerned, but there were some serious logic holes in the flow of the story.  More so and more glaring than I see in most movies of this genre.  But who cares, right?  Right.

It doesn’t matter what you think of the movie, someone else will despair about it or just the opposite.

New Movies This Friday, Aug 10th, 2012

There are really only two big name new movies coming out this Friday and I’m looking forward to one of them.

The Bourne Legacy

Starring Jeremy Renner & Rachel Weisz with other cast members of Scott Glenn, Stacy Keach, Edward Norton, Donna Murphy and more.  The movie is directed by Tony Gilroy whose past credits include the Bourne film franchise, Catfish, State of Play, Armageddon and more.

Looking at this combination and of creative players, I’m thinking this will pretty much fill the niche of our expectations from the Bourne franchise.

Renner plays Aaron Cross… where events of this movie are sparked by events in the previous three films.  (I love this franchise, BTW, so beware what you say.  You’ve been warned.)

The Campaign

The weekly comedy movie is coming out starring two big names in the comedic film world… of Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis.

The previews look funny, but then again, that’s what they’re designed to do.  Right?

Chris Rock & Julie Delpy star in 2 Days in New York, a comedy where

Manhattan couple Marion and Mingus, who each have children from prior relationships, find their comfortable family dynamic jostled by a visit from Marion’s relatives.

Delpy directs and co-wrote the screenplay
