New Posters from ‘The Hunger Games’ plus Cast Analysis of the Tributes

Movie news!  New promo posters for the Lionsgate adaptation of Suzanne Collins book trilogy, The Hunger Games, have started to show up in the wilds of the internet!  They are called District Seals.

'The Hunger Games' movie poster

They are seals for the various districts from The Hunger Games, to be exact.  At the moment, we only have five seals for five districts, and each seal is in its own Facebook page, realm, or district.  So you can head on out and ‘like’ or follow or whatever Facebook is calling it these days. (For fans of the book series, I bet you can really appreciate the imagery in the above promo poster.  I thought it is a great piece of combined lore from the books.)

PS I’ve read the trilogy and it’s a great read.  I have a book review up of the first book.

It’s a neat idea, to set up pages for each district seal.  At least from a business aspect of things.  It will be very easy to see who is drawn to what district.  But then again, I can’t imagine that district 12 won’t get the main collective of likes, since that’s where Katniss, Peeta, Haymitch and Gale are from!

These are great new additions to what’s already been released in the form of the viral website, thecapitol.pn.  But here’s the weird thing… when I hit up the website the week before, they relegated me to being a district 2 citizen.  But today, I’ve been put in to district 12.  I now even have a ID card as a PANEM Citizen Number (PCIN).

Nice!  (I say nice because I’m outside the age range of being a tribute!) (yea, yea, I didn’t know my Batman face was going up, but heck, now I’m mixing up franchises.  It’s what I do!)

Of course there’s the Facebook page:  https://www.facebook.com/thehungergamesmovie.

The new viral district seals so far, are from 2, 7, 8, 9 & 12.  But with these new district seals, I find myself looking a little beyond the actual seals themselves.  They’re representative of their district core business/industry, with specific logos set in similar backgrounds.

BUT…

I’ve been compiling a bit of information about the cast of The Hunger Games, and I was working my way up the list.  With the advent of these Hunger Games district seals being released, I thought, that with each seal from each district, I’ll touch on their actors cast in those roles.

Come along and find out what I learned!

District 1,

'The Hunger Games' District 1

Marvel & Glimmer are from district 1:

Rumors have it that Jack Quaid will be playing Marvel.  His acting resume is a bit limited but if you must know, yes, he’s the son of Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid.

Glimmer will be played by Leven Rambin.  This is an actress with some background and is not a stunt person!  When you see her, you may recognize her from her multi-episode guest stints on shows like One Tree Hill, CSI: Miami, or as Sloan from Grey’s Anatomy.  This isn’t her first movie, but it’s her first BIG movie.

District 2, Masonry Industry

Cato & Clove tributes are from District 2.    Cato will be played by Alexander Ludwig.  He’s been in Race to Witch Mountain and other smaller roles.  Clove will be portrayed by Isabelle Fuhrman, and I remember her from the 2009 movie, Orphan.   A lot of the peripheral cast are stunt folks, so keep that in mind as we go through these lists.  But for district 2, I mean heck, they are career tributes!  (Book fans know what that is.)

-

District 3, Technology Industry

'The Hunger Games' District 3https://www.facebook.com/District3PN

Ian Nelson & Kalia Prescott.

Kalia ‘has been/will be’ seen in projects such as the upcoming Red Dawn, The Santa Clause 3 & Spider-Man 2.  Stunt work.

-

District 4, Fishing Industry

'The Hunger Games' District 4https://www.facebook.com/District4PN

Tara Macken plays the District 4 tribute.  You’ve seen her in Sons of Anarchy in a role but the majority of her work is doing stunts.  Hmm, does that tell you anything about our D4 tribute?

Her male counter-part will be Ethan Jamieson.  This is his first movie, and played “kid #2″ in One Tree Hill back in 2009.

-

District 5, Power Industry

'The Hunger Games' District 5

The district 5 tribute is played by Chris Mark, who has done stunt work in Scott Pilgrim and Kick-Ass and Nikita.  (He’s a bit older looking than the rest and has a good agent it looks like!)

This is the district Foxface comes from.  Foxface will be played by Jackie Emerson.  This is Jackie’s first movie credit, so, well, maybe her role might be a bit diminished in the film.

-

District 6, Transportation

'The Hunger Games' District 6

The tributes from district 6 cast:

Ashton Moio is another stunt double who’s been in several films over the last few years like Red Riding Hood, Charlie Wilson’s War & Let Me In.

Kara Petersen was stunt double in Super 8, & Wizards of Waverly Place. Her specialty stunt skill is Gymnastics.

-

District 7, Lumber Industry

The district tributes will be played by Leigha Hancock, who did stunt work for Make it or Break It.  Her district partner is played by Sam Ly whose been in Tremors 4 and Timecop: The Berlin Decision.

-

District 8, Textiles Industry

The only cast noted for a D8 tribute is a young lady named Mackenzie Lintz who has been in 2 episodes of Drop Dead Diva.  There is no listing for a district 8 male tribute.  Hmm, remember when the gate tubes for each contestant open up and there for all the contestants for all to see, are …
supplies and weapons?  I wonder if he’s an unnamed cast member because he goes for the bounty right away
.

-

District 9, Grain Industry

'The Hunger Games' district 9

The tribute for District 9, is played by Annie Thurman (Falls the Shadow) & no male is noted for the D9 role.

-

District 10, Livestock

'The Hunger Games' District 10

The tributes from district 10 are played by on

Dakota Hood who has one small credit to her name.  While her male counter-part is Jeremy Marinas who has some serious stunt lineage to his credits: (Killer Elite, The Mechanic, The Green Hornet, The Expendables.  Also the web series Mortal Kombat: Legacy and he’s been in the incredible web series, The LXD: The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers.)

Every raise your hand if you think the D10 tribute is going to be kicking a lot of butt!

-

District 11, Agriculture

'The Hunger Games' District 11

Thresh & Rue.  Rue will be played by the petite looking Amandla Stenberg.   She’s some voice over work and as we all know, well, that might be giving something away, so never mind on that one!  Thresh will be played by Dayo Okeniyi.  Again, very little in the background.

-

District 12, Mining Industry

'The Hunger Games' district 12

Alas, the tributes from district 12 are Katniss and Peeta, two of our primary characters from the story.  Katniss is played by Jennifer Lawrence and Peeta, by Josh Hutcherson.  We’ve seen Jennifer in The Bill Engvall Show, and X-Men: First Class as the your Raven/Mystique.  She’s also been in Winter’s Bone.  Just to name a few.  Josh has had any regular TV show gigs, but you may have seen him in The Kids are All Right, and as the troubled buddy in Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant.
