The Wrap reported that Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures announced that they’ve found their new Clark Kent / Superman for the upcoming Zac Snyder directed movie, titled Superman: Man of Steel.

Henry Cavill has been selected to be playing the iconic superhero in Superman: Man of Steel.

Henry Cavill is probably best known from his role in The Tudors on TV but he’s also graced the silver screen in movies like Stardust, Tristan + Isolde, Whatever Works & The Count of Monte Cristo.

Under IMDb, his first TV role was a one-up appearance in The Inspector Lynley Mysteries in 2002 and his first movie was the 2001 Laguna.

Mr. Cavill hails was born in the European community of Jersey, Channel Islands.

Superman: Man of Steel, due out in December of 2012, is being directed by Zac Snyder (300, Watchmen, Legend of the Guardians… upcoming: Sucker Punch). The movie comes from a screenplay from David S. Goyer (Batman Begins, Jumper, The Dark Knight. Upcoming: The Dark Knight Rises) & Jonathan Nolan (The Prestige, The Dark Knight. Upcoming: The Dark Knight Rises). Producers are Charles Roven, Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Deborah Snyder.

This creative team behind this project makes it a very exciting, probably the most exciting Superman movie to hit the silver screen in a long time. We’ll also see how Mr. Cavill’s representing agency (CAA) handles this new role too. If you recall, since Superman Returns, Brandon Routh has been cursed to always seemingly be referenced as his role from the Superman project, despite having been in dozens of projects since.
