Doctor Who Christmas Special Preview

Matt Smith in 'Doctor Who' season 6

For the Doctor Who fan, if you were wondering about the Christmas special coming up, we have a little bit of news for you…

The Doctor Who special is called “The Doctor, The Widow and the Wardrobe” and will air on Christmas Day at 9 p.m. on BBC America.

It takes place in World War II here on Earth and it follows one Madge Arwell and her two kids.  During the war they are evacuated to an old house located in Dorset.  The curious bit abou tthis old house is its caretaker…  a mysterious young man who wears a bow tie.  With this strange young man is a big blue parcel is waiting for them under the tree. They are about to enter a magical new world and learn that the Time Lord (Matt Smith) never forgets his debts.”

But wait, that’s not all of it.  BBC America isn’t just having a sole Doctor Who Christmas special.

Beginning on December 23rd, BBC America will start their Doctor Who telecasts by showing past Christmas specials.  On Christmas Eve, they’ll air the special, Doctor Who: Best of The Christmas Specials.

Doctor Who: Best of The Christmas Specials will be an inside look at past specials, with fans of all kinds chiming in and discussing their favorite moments.

It should be pretty cool!

Munsters Reboot?

Yep, NBC has ordered up a reboot of the 1960’s comedy, The Munsters.  See, remakes aren’t just for the silver screen any more!

The show will be directed by Bryan Singer.  Who?  The guy behind movies such as X-Men and Superman Returns.  OK, maybe that’s not such a huge selling point, but hey, it’s not a horrible mini-resume.

But NBC is calling The Munsters a visually spectacular drama.

Hey, they have to spin it, right?

Kevin Smith is Ticked at The Indie Spirit Awards

Does anyone remember when Kevin Smith announced that his new movie, Red State was coming out?  He actively noted that he would not being doing any interviews because he wrote a press release that he felt, covered any and all questions that would be asked of him about the movie.  Something about wasting the time and what not.

Though I get it, it was definitely out of the norm for a movie maker to snub the press and other media.

Then he pulled the stunt where he was going to auction off the distribution rights, but it was a ruse, and paid himself $20 to distribute it himself.

Now he’s feeling the snug bug when the Indie Spirit Awards did not nominate any of his cast from Red State for any of their awards.  Smith was ticked and vented on Twitter, but oddly, rather peacefully… with only one profanity laced tweet.

He did seem more mad for Michael Parks, John Goodman and Melissa Leo than anything… as he said f* the idiotic organization.

The thing is, his presentation with a constant spate of profanity doesn’t agree with me, but his battle plan seems to work for him.  But for now, this week, it didn’t work for him with the Spirit Awards.
