TV and movies I’m chatting about today includes…

- Suicide Squad, &
Avengers Age of Ultron
Boy, you better prepare yourselves. Avengers Age of Ultron Outline spoilers, if you are trying to avoid all details about the film.
Joss Whedon was noted to saying a few things about the upcoming film.
First off, no worries about a group origins, we’re coming out the gate, the team is assembled, ready for disassembling.
He quotes is love for the Godfather sequel, because ” you get everything you got from the first Godfather movie in a very different movie, in a movie that structurally couldn’t be more different, and thematically and in intent and in mood, and yet nobody ever goes, ‘It wasn’t Godfathery enough.”
There will actually be a pre-credits scene.
Ultron will hate the Avengers. (Duh!)
He toned down Ultron’s abilities, or otherwise, he’d just win.
Ultron will have “weaknesses and needs and foibles and alliances and actually caring what people think of him, all these things, are what make him a character and not just a tidal wave.” But he’ll have a hard time articulating exactly why he hates humanity as much as he does.
To save time on “origin” telling, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver will be up and running, ready to go. (Remember them in the mid-credits scene in the Marvel Studios film Captain America: The Winter Soldier. How’s that for your origin???)
On Ultron’s origin, he changed it up because Dr. Hank Pym was already tied up in another film being made (Ant-Man) and went with Stark instead.
If you want to see the entire piece and get spoiled ever more, check out Empire Online.
Has Constantine Been Cancelled Yet?
The answer to that question, in case you were wondering, is no. Not yet. The show runner needs to make a pitch for what they are planning for season two in May to the network. The network will be taking a gander at all their new pilots, and weighing in on the options at that point in time.
So no news is good news so far if you are a Constantine fan. Though they say foreign sales of the show are doing well, you have to put one foot in the mixer and think about how most other shows have had their renewals announced and Constantine is still in the dark.
I would prepare for the worse, just in case.
Executive Produce Daniel Cerone Twitter Feed:
Spider-Man will be who???
And that’s the going question right now. Everyone is paying a ton of attention to how well Empire is playing out on TV and some of the focus is not on the great writing for the show, but the non-white cast. In fact there’s some crazy shit going on from the other networks that I’ll speak to later.
But right now, what with Spider-Man being loaned and used by Marvel, word on the street is that Spider-Man may not be played by a white actor plus it may not even be Peter Parker.
It seems sacrilegious to make such a huge change to the character, but to be honest, since Sony has already played this character out so much that we’d have to be seriously impressed with the writing of any film with the same old character doing something slightly different.
No… I think this just might be a great way to reboot the character on film. I mean hey, they rebooted Thor in the comics and made Thor a woman warrior. (who so ever has the honor, can wield the hammer, etc., etc..) Plus I think rebooting Thor in print puts a tiny bit of pressure on any contract negotiations for Hemsworth, with this new twist hanging over his head, Marvel and Disney could easily go the route of print.
So maybe Marvel will twist up the Spider-Man character. They’ve done it enough with variations on the character in print. Why not do it in film?
Star Wars: The Force Awakens
SPOILER? RUMOR? Or Bulls*!?
Supposedly this new Star Wars film opens with us watching a light saber floating through space and then it crash lands on a planet. And it goes from there.
Suicide Squad‘s Joker
Jared Leto has taken up the mantle of The Joker in this film, called Suicide Squad. And from what other things I’ve seen, he may be making The Joker more of a bad-ass SOA character than the nutcase we have become accustomed to.
Plus he’ll be the first actor to pick up the mantle after Heath Ledger.
Those are HUGE SHOES to fill… no pun intended.
Just in case you missed it, CBS is putting together a new superhero series, called Supergirl. In it, Kara hides her powers until she turns 24 and decides to embrace her unique skills.
Though rumored, no news on whether there will be any cross-overs with any other DC series based shows like Arrow.
