TV and Movie quick news bites

Today’s tidbits cover Agents of SHIELD, Avengers 2, the Netflix Daredevil production, the newest Fantastic Four movie, a tiny but exciting bit about Game of Thrones, Grimm, the DC Shazam movie/character, and yes, the remake of the classic TV series, Thunderbirds!

Agents of SHIELD

So to recap, the present cast list of new folks include Kyle MacLachlan (Skye’s father), Lucy Lawless (SHIELD veteran), Reed Diamond (Hydra villain Kraken), Nick Blood (A good mercenary), Henry Simmons (SHIELD Agent) and Simon Kassianides as Bakshi.

And per a THR report, Adrianne Palicki is also jumping on board to play Mockingbird. (hollywoodreporter.).

Avengers: Age of Ultron

If you were looking for more of a female presence in the Avengers movie, no worries there. Joss Whedon dropped a note during the Guardians of the Galaxy premiere that there will be four females at the core of this Avengers sequel.

But who?

We have Scarlet Witch, Black Widow and Maria Hill. Who might be the fourth? There are great rumors going around that we might see Ms. (Captain) Marvel in this upcoming film.

But rumors are funny in how they can be so wrong, or so right no one notices.

If you were wondering when me might see Marvel’s Daredevil premiere on Netflix, it’s been noted that they’re looking at a May 2015 premiere date.

Many believe it will be after Age of Ultron hits theaters.

And this particular character series, it’s been said, will be more nitty, gritty, down in the streets kind of justice, versus world and galaxy saving like we see with Thor and Avengers.

The cast of Daredevil includes…

  • Deborah Ann Woll (True Blood), as Karen Page
  • Rosario Dawson (Sin City)
  • Vincent D’Onofrio as The Kingpin / Wilson Fisk
  • Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson
  • Charlie Cox will be Daredevil / Matt Murdock

Fantastic Four

Despite the fact that the studio blew off Comic-Con by not bringing the new Fantastic Four to the event, they are covering their tracks by saying the project is in the middle of filming. (Unlike all the other projects that show up at SDCC)

They’ve also recently made note that this new film won’t be based on the comics, but inspired by the themes of the many stories out of all the FF comic titles, whatever the hell that means.

This new version is being referred to as scientists discovering their new skillsets, in various ways.

The new film is being directed by Josh Trank (Chronicle) and the cast includes Miles Teller (Mr. Fantastic), Kate Mara (Invisible Woman), Toby Kebbell (Doctor Doom), Jamie Bell (The Thing), Michael B. Jordan (The Human Torch).

Game of Thrones

In case any of you are wondering why it is that George R.R. Martin is not contributing to any new episode of the HBO series based on his books… don’t worry. He has a great excuse.

It’s because he’s writing another book (to help the TV series keep going).

Well, after the big wedding between Rosalee and Monroe, be prepared as these two Wesen are breaking grounds marrying outside their species AND harboring or being friends with a Grimm.

There are also going to be a new Wesen or two on the table for next season.

Words and rumors on the street is that Dwayne Johnson could be playing DC’s version of Captain Marvel, called Shazam. But then again, he’s teased at other things in the past and kpt the world guessing.

Thunderbirds ARE GO!

Yes, I said that, and yes, it’s happening. For those of us who might still have our old Thunderbirds metal toys, dig them out and marvel at them one more time.

With the famous WETA doing the models, we’re going to have a live-action / CG hybrid remake of one of my favorite shows, back when I was a kid and the wheel was just getting rounded off. The sets will be real miniatures and the characters will be CG, so no more strings holding up our heroes!

Rosamund Pike will voice Lady Penelope and David Graham will reprise his chauffeur and agent Parker role. Other cast voices include Kayvan Novak (Brains), Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Tracy brothers Gordon and John), Rasmus Hardiker (Tracy brothers Alan and Scott), David Menkin (Virgil), Sandra Dickinson ( Grandma Tracy), and Andres Williams (The Hood).

Yes, no one I’ve ever heard of either, but hey, we’re about to get 26 brand new episodes of The Thunderbirds sometime in 2015 on CITV, and I’m sure it will find its way to some domestic channel. And I can’t wait.

My favorite was Thunderbird 2!
