No Cheerleaders At 2011 Super Bowl

Robbie Jones and Alyson Michalka in Hellcats

This year the Super Bowl is a classic battle between classic teams as the Green Bay Packers face off against The Pittsburgh Steelers.  These two teams could possibly have the two largest fan-bases from the NFL. Heck, this life-long Steelers fan is at odds with some work peers, but it’s all in fun.

But what’s not in fun is that there will be no cheerleaders on the sidelines for the Super Bowl for those appealing 15-second glimpses that pop up every now and then.

There are six teams in the NFL that don’t have official cheerleaders and sadly, two of those teams are playing Sunday!  The other teams include the Cleveland Browns, Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions and New York Giants.

And no, the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders and the ‘go-go’ like dancers they use in the concourse levels will not be there either, despite being in Dallas.  That’s because of how NFL spokesman, Mr. Aiello put it, “If the team has cheerleaders, they are part of the Super Bowl.

In the past, Green Bay had brought cheerleaders to two previous events, but so far, I’ve heard nothing about this happening this weekend.  Maybe the CW’s Hellcats will show up!  Probably not, the game is on Fox.
