This week the newest opening movies this Friday bring the Ben Affleck directed The Town comes out on Friday, witha World Premiere Tuesday in Boston, MA.. We’re also looking at either the final nail in the coffin or a redemption for M. Night Shyamalan in Devil, and the Emma Stone starrer Easy A also joins the list of movies hitting theaters this Friday.
I’ve been looking forward to The Town for quite some time a and I hope it is as fulfilling an endeavor as I think it will be. From what I’ve heard and read, it will be a great movie experience!
Box Office Report for Last Weekend
This last weekend’s box office numbers saw Resident Evil: Afterlife come out of the gate charging harder than expected as it wrapped up a $26M+ opening weekend as it opened in 3,200 theaters. The 2nd place movie for the weekend was Takers, starring Hayden Christensen, raked in $5.675M, just pinching ahead ahead of The American starring George Clooney, which brought in $5.674M last weekend. Though Takers barely beat out The American, it was in fewer theaters, making much more per theater than The American. ([Fandango: Buy a ticket to Takers and be entered to win a home theater system!])
Machete dropped hard from its opening weekend and drew in just over $4M.

It’s about four men who are hunted by a tenacious FBI agent. The four men are friends, and rivals… and a woman is involved in the middle of it all. A woman who might destroy all of them. Intense.

Devil
Devil is another movie written by M. Night Shyamalan and it needs to perform. It stars Chris Messina, Logan Marshall-Green, Jenny O’Hara, Bojana Novakovic, Geoffrey Arend et. al.. It’s directed by Drew Dowdle (Quarantine), his first directorial effort.
It’s about a group of people that find themselves trapped in an elevator and the devil shows up amongst the little group in the cozy little box!

This movie stars Emma Stone, Penn Badgley, Amanda Bynes, Thomas Haden Church, Lisa Kudrow et/ al. It is about a high school student who relies on rumors to help advance her social standing in life.
