Without further adieu, Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim viral goodies:

Kaiju Emergency Alert System!

In Pacific Rim, humans are forced to defend against giant monsters in their world… and they do it with giant robots called Jaegers.

Here’s a close up of the pilot module (robot head):

A viral website also accompanies these goodies.. right now it’s a countdown and there’s an ‘X’ on San Francisco.  Hey!!!  Whoa!  300-foot tall monster?  Zoinks!

 Pan Pacific Defense Corps.

The very short film summary says “When an alien attack threatens the Earth’s existence, giant robots piloted by humans are deployed to fight off the menace. ”  A more detailed description of the story goes as follows:

“Legions of giant monsters known as Kaiju start rising from the sea and they begin a war that would takes millions of lives and consumes humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes-a washed up former pilot (Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Kikuchi)-who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.”

The movie has been in post-production since late April and is due out in theaters July 12th, 2013 and stars Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi, Idris Elba, Ron Perlman, and Charlie Day, with del Toro directing.

I’m a bit giddy because this brings me back to my youth when I used to set my alarm clock to get up at odd and wicked hours of the night to watch Godzilla movies. (No, this IS NOT a Godzilla film.  It’s a Kaiju movie!)

(psst:  I think I’m the first to actually dig up the 2nd video – I don’t see anyone else mentioning it.  Yet.  Then again, I like digging around and finding goodies!)
