Palo Alto Twilight Concert Series (free concerts)

Hoping to bring in more people, Palo Alto’s summer Twilight Concert Series have been moved to Saturdays this year, from Tuesdays. The free concert series is kicking off on July 17th and for each Saturday thereafter, through Aug. 21.

Part of the issue behind the scenes was that some of their budget was cut so they sought out some corporate sponsors. Approximately $7k was raised. Part of the process of luring sponsors was making sure they had the best visibility for the money. (Considering the logos on NASCAR hoods cost $10 mil a year, I appreciate wanting that all-important exposure!)

They feel that by moving the concerts to Saturdays, promoting through mailers and via businesses along California Avenue will help spread the word. (They weren’t counting on me looking to spread the word via the web! Hmm, wonder if I could send them a small bill?)

This year’s series begins with Tom Chapin at Mitchell Park and concludes with some local youth bands on August 21st.
