Brusimm Cinema Static Movie NewsI think you all know that Peter Weller has signed on with the cast of J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek 2 movie.  Right?

Weller fans are happy, but now the curiosity turns to wondering if he’ll take up the role of Kahn  (Yes, Kahn.) or some other character.  Hints include that he’ll be playing a C.E.O. of some sorts.

Down Another Rabbit Hole of Thought:

Some think that Abrams reviving Kahn in his reboot is a cop out.  But then again, I thought the reboot going down the alternate time line avenue wasn’t going to pan out and that surprised the heck out of me when it turned out to be damn entertaining.

So for now, I’m having some faith in that decision to pull in a known character.  Face it, Abrams’ Star Trek is slightly different but it swirls around the same characters.  Why not the same bad guys?  Though there is a fantastic opportunity for J.J. Abrams to crank out new villains to the franchise.  But then again, why?  The old ones are already popular and have an installed fan base!  And then again, we can start to ponder just how Kirk and Kahn come together in this new spin and we’ll also be wondering how they will be a fresh and new conflict.

I mean Abrams destroyed Vulcan and made that story line a compelling closing thought in the first Star Trek movie.  So I’m going to wait and see what he does with this reintroduction of an old nemesis, that was from another time line.
