Picking ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows’ on VoD: It Was No Challenge

'Sherlock Holmes A Game of Shadows'I was trying to decide what to rent on my VoD on Friday… I wasn’t sure and I didn’t want to waste money and time on the venture, so I took a look at IMDb and the ratings that my fellow movie fans gave these movies.

They were:

  • Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (4.5 fr 28k+ votes)
  • Act of Valor (6.4 from 20k+)
  • Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (7.5 from 123k+ votes)

I think the power of voting and my fellow fans has spoken and I’m off to crank up some Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.

Now the first one I went and saw in the theater, but I wasn’t entirely moved by it.  I didn’t hate it, but I was meh.

But from what I can tell, this was a good movie.

I’m guessing I’ll leave Ghost Rider 2 to the freebie  version of either coming to my pay movie channel like HBO or STARZ, or when it hits network TV when FX or USA or one of those snags the rights to this under-whelming box office hit.

I am trusting in my fellow fans!

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows stars Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, Noomi Rapace and Jared Harris and it’s directed by Guy Ritchie, who directed the first Sherlock Holmes movie.

In this day and age, that’s getting more rare when a director actually is retained to helm the sequel.  That’s great faith from the studio that I respect.  In this case, the movie is from Warner Bros. Pictures.

The opening scenes are quite fun and entertaining, to say the least.  more to follow!  -Bruce
