‘Primeval’ Season 4 Observations

The first episode opener of Primeval season 4 explains what happened up until this point, and we see the new team in action. Matt Anderson (Ciarán McManamin), The new field leader. Jess Parker (Ruth Kearney) is the quirky cute girl at the central computer controls at the ARC. Captain Becker (Ben Mansfield) is the Home Office man in charge of the ARC field operations team.

It would never be Primeval without Connor and Abby.  We then see Connor (Andrew Lee Potts) and Abby (Hannah Spearritt) back in the past, surviving as best they can. They’ve set up camp near a known ‘anomaly’ spot, hoping it will open up again.

In the meantime, it looks like Connor has been learning to spar from Abby… nice! OK, everyone, raise your hand if you’d like to be stuck on a desert island with Abby! Lucky Potts.

In the first episode, Connor and Abby found a remote that belonged to Helen Cutter, stashed by a raptor. With the remote, they find their way home.

They meet Dr. Bashir!!!! It’s been a long time since I’ve seen Alexander Siddig from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine! He plays Philip Burton, and he’s in charge of the ARC, more or less.

At first Abby gets a job at the new ARC offices & Connor gets cut loose but in his own way, proves he belongs back in with the crew. But Philip Burton sparks a suspicious nerve with me… I’m not sure what it is yet.

Abby and Rex

The gang, both new and old get back into the routine of wrangling prehistoric trespassers. In the third episode, we’re introduced to the wary Emily Merchant, played by Ruth Bradley.  Oh, and Rex is still in the show.

The show has the same energy we’ve come to know from previous seasons, even with the new crew and such. And that pesky Mr. Burton, I know is trouble of a corporate minded nature with his “New Dawn” project. I’m just sure of it.

It’s good to have the show back for another season!  I love that quirky, subtle sense of pragmatic sense of observations from Connor!
