An intersection in Columbus Ohio had a traffic cam installed in multiple intersections and in 4 weeks, generated 10,000 tickets.
So many tickets were piled up and multiple offenders will be getting multiple tickets in the mail all at aonce. LOL. Good. If you’re getting multiple tickets, you obviously have developed a habit you need to put in check as far as I’m concerned.
It completely blows my mind when people piss and moan about traffic cams.
When people get snagged for running red lights, they sniffle that it’s a violation of privacy or it’s a cash-grab routine.
Give me a fracking break people. You’ve screwed up, now pay the price.
Some day, you aren’t going to be center punched by someone not running a red light and you won’t even know it.
I’m just amazed at how many liberties people have become accustomed to and get away with on a daily basis. Myself included to be honest. It’s a way of life it seems and no one seems to take heed of the more important issues that can cause terrible harm to others.
Of course, it’s like everyone says: “It won’t happen to me.”
In 2005, over 6.4 million people can no longer say that. That’s how many people got into an accident in that year.
I bet there were at least 34,017 people in 2008 that used to think that. They’re now dead from fatality accidents.
So you tell me, how many people may have benefited from having their “rights” threatened by red light cameras? Who knows, but even it is just 1, that’s a lot of people who would be much better off when you count family and friends of each person dead.
Me, I’d rather live in angst about red-light cameras than get comfortable running yellows because I don’t want to be the cause of someone else’s misery. But that’s just me. you might be different.

uh… really? So the documented facts about how the timings are messed with and quite often even fire off tickets when you are STOPPED and don’t run the light, these things don’t impinge on your reality eh? Most of these setups are joint ventures with a PROFIT split between the city and the maker/seller of the cameras… you think for one instant that ensures 100% honesty and a good working system???
Come down out of the clouds and visit reality.
You’re right… here in the Bay Area, these red light camera systems cost approximately $50-60k for each intersection, and if I remember correctly, about $10k a month to the camera companies to maintain. (I could be off on that #)
At least here, they’ve spend even more money on staff reviewing associated video with each pic to validate the ticket or not so we don’t get tickets for stopping.
Again, yet another expenditure.
Hey, as long as I pull my cloud to a stop and not get dragged into one of those pointless court battles from a red light cam pic, my reality is good.
Thanks!
How did you get up in them clouds?
