The other day I was firing off some messages into my SoB Twitter account (@Brusimm, http://twitter.com/brusimm) when I got a reply to one of my messages from a rather shocking and rude spamming account. The account used TV stars names, with ex rated verbiage and logo. (I spelled it differently to try and avoid the spammers floating around looking for those key words.)
NO, I’m not a prude, stick in the mud moralist. The subject matter or the image did not offend me. Spam messages themselves offend me. And folks on Twitter who aren’t asking for exposure to this stuff offends me. It’s not fair.
To report spam on Twitter is pretty easy! All you have to do is message Twitter’s spam control account, @spam.
Here’s how in example format:
Say I received a spam message from @stupid_spammer.
Then I would send a message to Twitter’s spam account that looks like this:
@spam @stupid_spammer
Simple as that.
As Twitter puts it:
http://twitter.com/spam/status/914219940
Report Twitter spam by sending us an @reply with the suspicious user name: “@spam @spam123″
I try to do my part in defeating or discouraging spam. I hope this helps someone, somewhere! -Bruce
