My first thought is that a sandwich shop is a sandwich shop is a sandwich shop. Right? Well, maybe and maybe not.
For one thing, Mr. Pickles is located at 1049 Cochrane Road, Suite 120. Or for you locals, that is in the Chili’s, PetCo, Target shopping center, located near the Jamba Juice I keep forgetting is there.
They have one heck of a menu offering from where you can build your own sandwich to their 20 specialty sandwiches, with their calorie account. You can choose from several different breads. After construction, you can add your mustard, mayo, spicy add ons and what not.
The store is fully stocked with staff and both times that I was there, the place was packed.
The line for ordering is interesting.
You pile in line and wait your turn, but whoever is available to take your next order, they call you to walk over to where they are rather then the help coming to where you are in line. So if feels like you are skipping a spot in line or the folks behind you just skipped past you. It is an odd feeling, but it all works out in the end, and that being that you end up with a pretty good sandwich.
Seating is fairly limited for the amount of people I saw ordering lunch, but it is worth the wait. I had a pastrami sandwich the first day we were there and a pastrami/roast beef combo sandwich the next day. Both times I got sourdough bread and they were dang yummy.
Mr. Pickles also has online ordering and a points card if you suspect you will be going back… often. Like we will be. Their points system is one point per dollar spent and after 100 points, earn $10.
BTW, they mentioned on Facebook under a different thread than their own page that there’s a special going on through the end of June… buy one, get one free. Yep, through the end of June. Crazy, huh?
Go check them out at their new location in Morgan Hill!
