Hey gang, if you are a Rizzoli & Isles fan, guess what? Hmm, this post’s title might have spoiled that question. Rizzoli & Isles has been renewed by TNT for a sixth season of this hit crime drama starring Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander.
Per TV Guide Magazine, this show has performed consistently as one of the five top cable shows over the last five years, warranting the sixth season renewal.
TNT has ordered an 18-episode count for the new season while the rest of of the fifth season, now on break, will air in the early part of 2015.
I don’t know about you, but the first time I spotted Angie Harmon was on Law & Order as A.D.A. Abbie Carmichael.
Before that she had recurring roles on Baywatch Nights, C-16 FBI, and voiced the character of Barbara Gordon on the animated series, Batman Beyond.
Since Law & Order she was in Inconceivable and Women’s Murder Club before landing her current recurring role of Jane Rizzoli.
She’s married to football player Jason Sehorn.
Sasha Alexander has had recurring roles on Wasteland, Dawson’s Creek, and her NCIS role as Caitlin Todd. (I still hated how her NCIS role ended. It was shocking and yet, it was her call to leave the show, and hence, they made sure she wasn’t coming back I guess!)
Other cast members in R & I include Jordan Bridges (Dawson’s Creek, Conviction), Bruce McGill (Delta House, MacGyver, Live Shot, Wolf Lake, & The Cleveland Show), and Lorraine Bracco (The Sopranos, I Married a Mobster).
It will be good to see the show returning for one more season. And if it keeps up its good fortune in ratings, well, who knows how long it will last.
