Running Events that Support Breast Cancer Research – A Fun Way To Contribute

Breast Cancer Awareness Month pink ribbon symbolThere are literally hundreds of ways that people from all walks of life can support the battle against breast cancer. Almost too many, but hey, it all comes together in a single front when all is said and done.

But there are ways to help fight breast cancer (being that it’s breast cancer awareness month) for runners. Being a runner, I’m a bit partial to this process.

Each year, 200,000 women receive the diagnosis. Donating to the cause, any cause of choice, helps battle the disease in ways that could help so many different facets of this thing.

From raising awareness, to donating to research, every dollar helps. My take is even a dollar can help. In one case, a sporting program I was watching was pushing awareness. The show had four million viewers. It would be neat if everyone who was watching the show contributed only a dollar.

That’s why a dollar seems to be such a simple and yet powerful tool.

See, even a dollar. Heck, you can even support the cause by ‘liking’ some orgs on Facebook. Yoplait Yogurt will donate a tiny piece of change to the cause for each ‘like’ they get on Facebook! Or if you snag Yoplait Yogurt from the shelves, there’s a code under the lid that you can take and put into Yoplait’s website. Each code entered, Yoplait will donate a tiny bit to the cause against breast cancer.

Or, as noted at, there are a few breast cancer awareness events you can take part in as a runner. (And have some Yoplait yogurt at the end of the run! LOL)
