Sanctuary Ratings for Dec 11 & 18 on Syfy

Of late, some folk were openly questioning the why or what of the absence of ratings for the Sanctuary episodes for December 11th and 18th on the Syfy Channel.  Though many had asked and scoured the web, nothing could be found for said ratings.  Suspicions were being fired up as to why would that be.

Believe it or not, sometimes, reporters just don’t report everything everyday and that’s all there is to it.  And frankly, what’s to report?  That it was the same drab numbers they’ve been getting?

My Plight for my Cinema Static Readers:

Nielsen didn’t help either.  When I tried to sign up for their detailed ratings reports, their response was that they make weekly reports on the top ‘x’ available via various channels.  I’m like, dudes, I could give a crap about the top 10.  I can figure that out without even looking some days.

Then I Tweeted the Syfy guy on Twitter.,   My thought behind that was since he / they report numbers on and off, that they must have all the numbers.

But what I have noticed is that they will toot their own numerical ratings horn when it suits them.  No disrespect, but I was incredibly disappointed when he / they (I’m not sure it was really Craig Engler driving the keyboard last night) replied to my inquiry:

“Syfy @Cinema_Static Nielsen tracks ratings, not us, so that doesn’t make much sense.”

Is it me, or am I wrong thinking they’re network, they’re shows, their income… they might want to be on top of their own business infrastructure numbers for their own shows?  Eh.  I could be wrong all together what’s important and what’s not to some folk.  But I can happily say I refrained from what were instinctual verbal (or typed) vanity attacks of foul and ruffian language upon that cretinous and short handed reply.  Whateverrr!  After a good primal scream of frustration, I merely replied back:

Since you sometimes announce ratings #’s for the tweeps, I thought you’d have them laying around somewhere. Thanks Anyhoo.

But after a nudge from me (Or my impecable good timing), Robert over on TV By The Numbers popped up the numbers.  In pretty short order too!

On December 11 at 10pm Sanctuary averaged

  • 1.363 million and a
  • 0.4 adults 18-49 rating.

On December 18 at 10pm it averaged

  • 1.376 million and a
  • 0.4 rating with adults 18-49

That didn’t seem so tough!

Pretty stagnate numbers but that’s fine as the show rages on, regardless of Emilie Ullerup’s absence.  Damnit.  But I think they’ve heard the uproar.  Now the question remains that as I suspect, there aren’t a lot of people uproaring, what percentage of viewers are doing the uproaring?

Eh, regardless of anyone or anything, Syfy is steaming onward and upward!  At least it gives us an option aside from the regular drabble.  I’ll give ‘em that.

Ouch, they don’t feel that Santuary even rates a mention!

I’m not sure I could describe the show as raging on. More like meandering aimlessly at times from what I’ve read. As far as onward and upward goes, compare the numbers for episodes 8, 9 and 10 of S1 to the same in S2:

S1
ep 8 – 1,746,000
ep 9 – 1,538,000
ep 10 – 1,703,000

S2
ep 8 – 1,328,000
ep 9 – 1,363,000
ep 10 – 1,376,000

I realize I’m not an expert at ratings analysis, but that doesn’t look very promising to me. Whether it’s due to Emilie Ullerup’s absense, the presence of what’s her name or the all over the place storyline, something is wrong. Surely the network can see that.

BTW, I continue to uproar and will continue to do so until they either fix it or confirm that I’m wasting my time. When/If that happens I will happily find something else to watch.

Hmm… You know, in my minds eye, the term “raging on” sounded more sarcastic… I gotta figure out a sarcastic font or something.

How’s about a raging meander? Or… a meandering rage? Ah.. a rage-andering!

ROFL, love it! rage-anderding, it describes it perfectly.

BTW thanks for your efforts Bruce. They are greatly appreciated and no need for the sarcastic font, I recognize and appreciate your sarcasm as well. :)
