Smallville

As ya’ll are aware, Smallville was picked up for a another season, its 10th season.  Whether it was due in part to the Absolute Justice Smallville movie event or just the momentum of the series, well, your guess is as good as mine.

The important part is that Geoff Johns has said that we will again be seeing more JSA before the end of this season.

In fact Johns has said that there is hope that every DC character will appear in Smallville, in their correct perspectives.

Michael Shanks will probably be returning to mentor the super powered Kryptonian, and then I saw this BIG and totally cool bit:  Darkseid and the dark gods of Apokolips may be showing up next season!

That would be an incredible appearance by a DC character, except this makes me wonder about a few things.

When Clark faced Doomsday, the potentially biggest confrontation to face Clark ever, was a 3-hit wonder and that was it.  What DC drew out over months in the comics, and changed the entire franchise of Superman, took seconds in Smallville and that empty confrontation left the fans hollow.

Darkseid showing up in season 10 of Smallville

With Darkseid showing up, I can’t imagine that Clark won’t be flying by then.  Will he?  He will need every single ability he can muster at his beck and call.  Otherwise, we could just be calling this Flash visits Metropolis.

Come on CW…  get it together and toss the boy in the air!  He’ll figure it out!

okay i think that this would work out for the show. on another site i had posted that Lex return to save Clark from Zod so that he could befriend him at the end of season 9. but what about the fact that Lex would try to use Clark for his own personal gain but is stopped by Darkseid who happens to work a little mind control on Clark to turn on the Justice Society and now it is up to them to get Clark back with the help and technology of none other then Bruce Wayne… think about it. i can be reached at comermyles@gmail.com

I like your imaginative approach Myles, but…

Michael Rosenbaum recently reaffirmed he’s done with SMALLVILLE (http://bit.ly/9cXotf) and sadly, due to legal complications / restrictions, we’ll never see Batman / Bruce Wayne show up on SMALLVILLE.

Over the years, I have been a fan (off & on) of SMALLVILLE because of the cast more than the actual story (Erica Durance is BEAUTIFUL). That is mostly because of Hollywood and THEIR interpretation of how a storyline should be set for any movie and/or T.V. series set around a video game and/or comic book.

SMALLVILLE is one of many good example of this.

The whole series starts with Clark Kent and Lex Luthor as friends in Smallville? I admit, I haven’t followed the character that close, but I thought Lex didn’t come along until after Clark became Superman. To create this brotherhood between the two drove me away from the show in the first several seasons.

Clark Kent cannot FLY? The movies even showed Clark Kent as a kid learning to fly (Superman Returns). Why is this such a long-drawn out part of the storyline?

As for DARKSEID appearing on SMALLVILE (not IN Smallville). Considering how everything is unfolding on the show, DARKSEID could be introduced as part or even the MAIN reason Krypton was destroyed. That maybe DARKSEID had something to do with BRAINIAC turning against the people of Krypton, manipulating them to fight each other (those like General ZOD) while everything was set for the utter destruction of Krypton. It could be revealed that DARKSEID saw the people of Krypton as a threat to him, so he destroyed that threat. Only he discovers that there are survivors, one that could bring his downfall- CLARK KENT. So he begins his attack in small waves (first BRAINIAC, then DOOMSDAY then ZOD) until finally, as boomtubes appear and Alien ships start to pour out, alien soldiers advancing through each boomtube on the ground, and leading the attack- DARKSEID (which they could go and lead into a theatrical movie if they wanted).

Just an idea of what could happen.

Hmm, I’ve notice that NO ONE has commented after me on this “article” and wonder if this is indeed a legitimate “article” or not. The last comment here is from me, April 10th 2010, and then noting else (Myles and Bruce commented both on the same day before me). I don’t want to pat myself on the back for (in my opinion) a good idea for the DARKSEID storyline, but it does seem to be heading in the direction of a possible theatrical movie (no TV series final movie) of SUPERMAN (not Clark Kent) Vs. DARKSEID. I just honestly do not completely like the direction they are going with this final season. DARKSEID portrayed as a dark cloud is more biblical than what he is in the comics, then again, Hollywood makes it out that to make superheroes look like superheroes, it would be too cheesy and the “fans” will not like it….meaning, the “fans” that do not read comics.

My honest opinion- if you make a movie or a TV show based on a comic book and/or video game, do NOT change the story. The REAL fans would appreciate it.

Thank you, and may the SWARTZ be wit yous.

Markus, what do you mean by “legitimate?” I’m confused. But I’m with you with this early portrayal of Darkseid being a cloud. Then again the show has taken their ‘reimagined’ take on various characters and changed them up a bit so I though I wasn’t liking that cloud reference, I’ll wait to see what they do with it.
