Syfy ChannelThe Syfy Channel unleashes Red: Werewolf Hunter & Monsterwolf!  October is the month of Halloween (technically) and what better network than the Syfy Channel with their huge inventory of Saturday Night flicks and new Saturday Original Movies can go nuts with scary monster movies?  OK, there are a few that go all out, but still, with enough popcorn and time, you have to admit the B-movie fare from Syfy can be entertaining!

With that said, the NBC owned Syfy Channel is coming at us with two Saturday Original movies for what they call a “howling good time.”

MONSTERWOLF -- Syfy Original Movie

The first movie of note is called Monsterwolf, premiering on Saturday, October 9th and stars Robert Picardo (Star Trek: Voyager, Stargate Atlantis, Stargate Universe) and Jason London.  In Monsterwolf, an evil oil company disregards rules against drilling on tribal land and their own deeds unleash a nasty, protective animal spirit, called the Kachinawaya.

Red: Werewolf Hunter starring Felicia Day

The second movie Red: Werewolf Hunter is something I’ve been talking about for quite some time under the moniker of Red, starring Felicia Day (The Guild, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-a-long Blog).  Syfy just recently released the full name of the movie. In this movie, Felicia Day plays a descendant of Little Red Riding Hood who brings her beloved hubby-to-be home to introduce him to the family, and the family business, which is hunting werewolves.  The problem lies in the fact that though he doesn’t believe, he ends up getting bitten and now the family has their werewolf killing minds set on him and Red tries to save him from them and, I presume, himself!  Red: Werewolf Hunter also stars Kavan Smith (Eureka, Stargate Atlantis) and Stephen McHattie (Watchmen) and will premiere on the Syfy Channel on October 30th.  Now THAT is perfect timing.

NEW YORK – September 16, 2010 – Syfy will provide a howling good time in October with two wolfish Saturday Original Movies featuring a family of werewolf hunters and an ancient vengeful creature.

In Monsterwolf, premiering Saturday, October 9, at 9PM (ET/PT), an oil company defies a court injunction against drilling on tribal land. Their blasting releases the Kachinawaya, a Native American animal spirit meant to protect Indian lands from invaders. Monsterwolf stars Robert Picardo (Star Trek: Voyager) and Jason London (Wildfire). A production of Active Entertainment.

Felicia Day, star of The Guild and Joss Whedon’s Dr. Horrible’s Sing-a-long Blog, who also played “Vi” in the final season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, will portray a descendant of Little Red Riding Hood in Red: Werewolf Hunter, debuting Saturday, October 30, at 9PM (ET/PT).

Red (Day) brings her fiancé home, where he meets the family and learns about their business — hunting werewolves.  He’s skeptical until bitten by a werewolf.  When her family insists he must be killed, Red tries saving him.  Red: Werewolf Hunter also stars Kavan Smith (Stargate Atlantis) and Stephen McHattie (Watchmen). Red: Werewolf Hunter is produced by Angela Mancuso and Vesuvius Productions in association with Chesler Perlmutter Productions.

The Founder of Prehistoric Channel just wrote his first thriller book. Its called THE ICE GORILLA and rumor has it that movie executives are currently looking at it in regards to turning it into a movie. This will depend on how well THE ICE GORILLA book sales go. Its at amazon right now. Lets see if we can support THE ICE GORILLA and help get this cool made for syfy channel concept turned into a movie.
