Syfy Channel LogoIf you were wondering what’s coming up this June (2011) on the Syfy Channel for weekend movies, look no further. This June’s Syfy Saturday Original Movies include Red Faction: Origins (6/4), Ice Road Terror (6/11) & Swamp Shark (6/25)!

I’ve seen some previews for Red Faction: Origins and this actually looks good.

Red Faction: Origins

With a screenplay written by Andrew Kreisberg (Warehouse 13) and directed by Michael Nankin (Battlestar Galactica), the showrunner team already has set off my anticipation levels.

“Red Faction: Origins stars Brian J. Smith (Stargate Universe), Robert Patrick (Terminator 2: Judgment Day), Kate Vernon (Battlestar Galactica), Danielle Nicolet (The Starter Wife), Gareth David-Lloyd (Torchwood), Tamzin Merchant (The Tudors) and Devon Graye (Dexter) in the epic adventures of the Mason family, Martian colonists battling for survival and freedom.”

This movie also serves as the connecting bridge between their 2009 game, Red Faction: Guerrilla and the newest title in the gaming franchise, Red Faction: Armageddon, which will be released June 7.

In the story, Jake Mason (Smith) heads out on a quest to bring justice to the enemies that killed his mother and kidnapped his sister.

Ice Road Terror

This movie premieres on Saturday, June 11, and deals with an giant, angry prehistoric creature that’s been awakened diamond mine blasting.

It stars Michael Hogan (Battlestar Galactica), Brea Grant (Heroes) and Ty Olsson (Battlestar Galactica).

Swamp Shark

Swamp Shark premieres Saturday, June 25. It’s about a killer shark that is illegally released into a river near a remote Louisiana town.  The town either has to deal with it or everyone gets eaten.  Most perfect!

It stars Robert Davi (Die Hard), Kristy Swanson (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and D.B. Sweeney (The Event), from Bullet Films.

That’s what’s in store for fans of the Syfy Channel, in June.
