Today I dabble in the original movies in April, remind you about the Eureka series finale season and not only do I wonder, but I guess exactly when we’ll hear about the fate of Sanctuary!

The month of April, the Syfy channel has some interesting Saturday Original Movies lined up for you guys, in the form of alien-based weather problems!  And as far as I’m concerned, tornados and twisters can be big problems!

Check it out:

On Saturday, April 14th, the Syfy channel will be airing Alien Tornado, starring Jeff Fahey and Kari Wuhrer.  You might remember Wuhrer from Sliders!

In Alien Tornado, aliens will be attacking Earth using electrical tornadoes as their weapon of “B movie” choice!

In the story,

“A farmer, his brilliant high school daughter and a tornado blogger race against the clock to find a way to thwart the horrific invasion. Alien Tornado is a production of Active Entertainment.”

Later in April, on April 28th, Syfy then airs their next alien weather movie, called Space Twister.  (And that ain’t the party game!)

Erica Cerra (Eureka) and Mitch Pileggi stars.

In Space Twister, storms that look like what we see on Jupiter start popping up and trashing on the Earth, disintegrating everything they come in contact with.

In this riveting “B” story,

“A high school student’s science project becomes the mysterious key to ending the catastrophic storms and saving civilization. A production of Cinetel, Space Twister co-stars Mitch Pileggi (Sons of Anarchy).”

Cerra will be playing the mother of the teenage genius.

Speaking of Cerra and Eureka,

Eureka

Don’t forget that Eureka’s fifth season premiere will be taking place on April 16th, 2012.  This will be its last season, after being cancelled by Syfy’s parent company, Comcast.  As the exec producer put it on Twitter way back when it was announced:

“And we could not maintain the quality of our show with the cuts it would take to make us profitable for Syfy’s new parent company.”

And speaking of cancelled,

What’s Up With Sanctuary Season 5?

Since we have definitely not heard one word about Sanctuary, I’m guessing the show has been axed…  in an interview late last year Amanda Tapping noted that there’s a small chance they’d take it back to the web…  but she and the others have other projects going on.  So I’m not holding my breath on that one.

And dig as I might, I can’t find a peep.

Over on the Syfy press page, the splash page for Sanctuary shows a precap for season 3!  Hmm… no love there!

The moment I hear anything, I will fire up a piece, no matter how big or small!  But my guess is that the real news on Sanctuary being renewed for a fifth season or Sanctuary being cancelled will come out at Syfy’s upfront that takes place on April 24th, 2012.  Either then or just before then so they’ve cleared the air about the series before the ad upfront sales time.

We will know by then.
