Syfy Disrespects ‘Sanctuary’ Fans With Network Silence

Robin Dunne in Sanctuary on the Syfy Channel

As of late February to late March, that was usually the time when announcements or news would come out about Sanctuary starring Amanda Tapping, being renewed. Obviously that time frame has slipped by! This year, fans have had to deduce, wonder and play detective to figure out what’s up with their favorite show and if it’s coming back to the Syfy channel.

Has Sanctuary been cancelled?

I’ve seen in several pieces out there where the cast have been asked about the show coming back, but all they say is that

“There’s no news yet.”

Folks have pummeled Syfy’s Twitter account with questions. (Ahem… ) But have been met with a similar kind of ambiguous answer or silence!

It’s obvious that people would like to know what’s going on. But I can only assume that since we’re not being teased about something on the horizon or what not, that Sanctuary has been cancelled. If the Comcast owned Syfy channel can cancel Eureka, I can only imagine how fast the budget cutting sword came slicing through the air at the Sanctuary time slot. I mean, hey, god knows they have enough reality TV shows on cars, make up, props and games in the dark to fill in void. And to be honest, if the people didn’t pander to those programing patterns, fans would not be out in the cold now.

But in all seriousness, with cast and crew/showrunners working on other projects and such, it’s hard to think that “the show will go on!”

Then I came across news that Sanctuary is dependent upon what the network does with the Battlestar Galactica prequel, Blood & Chrome. Which actually looks like it was shelved as a TV project for now. So with that decision made, we still hear the dark void of space made by dark matter.

Regardless of what decision has already been made or will be made, the network owes the fans who have been tuning in regularly, an explanation. It’s not that hard to step up and say something, even if it’s an update of non-news.

Syfy! Have some decency and tell the people what’s up and if Sanctuary has been cancelled?

Hey everyone…
I thought I would put in my two-cents. I am Nicole Ellison (AKA Nikki Lyn), I have the FaceBook and Myspace to prove it. The above message is NOT me. Though I agree the cancellation of Sanctuary is not happy news, I would not write something like that nor would I threaten SYFY for its decision. There is most likely a good reason for what they have done. My love for the show is well known among most fans and it is pure. Though I am saddened by the news, Such useless threats would not get anything done nor would they come from me.

Just saying,

Nikki Lyn

SYFY needs to be taken over. As a fan who has not only been helped by Sanctuary but also inspired, I will not sit down like a dog and take this load of bull dung. Sanctuarians need to unite. SYFY fans need to FIGHT for the shows they believe in. SYFY is insane if they think the creativity, inspiration and imagination put into these shows make them simply another waste of time or simply a show. People NEED what these shows offer.

Reality Television can be found every time you go to your local parks, shopping centers or even gas stations. Wrestling is a waste of precious SYFY air time and they are idiots to deal with the theatrics of those false renditions of the sport. If you want to see REAL wrestlers then go to a local high school wrestling match. I agree with Carrie on that front. And with that I have a message to be passed to the SYFY network…

Dear SYFY,
Pull your superiority complex bloated heads out of your bull faced rear ends and listen to your viewers. There are more viewers of Eureka alone than there are of Ghost hunters (and all “Ghost” related shows), wrestling and reality bull combine. Sanctuary and Eureka along with Stargate (all) fillers and other shows that are actually LOVED can fill your time slots.

One fan your losing if you do not change,
Nicole Lyn Ellison
aka Nikki Lyn
PS Look me up. curse me out The fans will beat your suited rears.

SyFy needs to be renamed! They are cheating us out of quality science fiction based shows (i.e., Eureka and Sanctuary) for reality tv and wrestling. They may be fiction, but they are not science fiction! If the channel is going to give us crap; they can change is to trash tv!

VERY well said, Andrea. 🙂

Thank you for saying what everyone has been thinking… Obviously, Syfy has seen that there are lots of Sanctuary fans out there who are not afraid to use their twitter accounts… 😉 However, there might be other things going on behind the scenes that don’t necessarily involve Syfy since Sanctuary is an independent show… I’m just sick of speculations and waiting. I’d love to hear SOMETHING that I can hold on to… Something that will tell me if Sanctuary is cancelled or shelved or renewed… It’s the little show that could, it’s a show I care about, so please, just give me something to work with…

I personally have been waiting for ages, and I’d like to know what the hold up is. if we do get a S5, I’d REALLY like to know what the hold up is/was. And you’re right, even if we’re not given a good or bad answer, any news is better than none.

I still hope for the best. 🙂
