I had a bunch of things collecting in my inbox and thought I’d reach into that digital grab bag and see what I pulled out! What I did pull out was some news snippets about Avatar 2, Dragon Ball Z, Cars 2, Wrecked, Wrath of the Titans and Resident Evil 5.

Avatar 2

Avatar 2 Delayed… Some time back I had chatted about James Cameron taking a deep dive and camera gear with him to check out some preliminary filming ops.

But I thought that Cameron had done this by now, but apparently not.

But now with the earthquake offshore from Japan, there’s concerns about aftershocks and Cameron taking a deep dive into the Mariana Trench.

With the aftershocks possibly occuring for an undetermined amount of time, it looks like they might either be taking a bye for now or, just find another location that’s not quite as deep to capture some pre-production footage.

Dragon Ball Z

Dragon Ball ZDragon Ball Z is debuting on the iPad near you!  VIZ Manga has an app that’s the leading app for reading Japanese manga on the iPad.  With that being the case, they’ve Dragon Ball Z has debuted on the iPad!

“DRAGON BALL Z, created by the legendary Akira Toriyama (DRAGON BALL, DR. SLUMP, SANDLAND, etc), continues Goku’s adventures to become Earth’s ultimate warrior! But the stakes are increasing as even deadlier enemies threaten the planet…”

Cars 2 Lawsuit

Here’s one for you:  A man is suing Disney, trying to put a stop on the studio releasing Cars 2 because it closely mirrors or has a large number of similarities to a spec project he sent to Disney in 1993.

The similarities seem, well, oddly similar, but interesting none-the-less.  If you’re interested, check out the details over at THR.

If you’re an Adrien Brody fan, I thought you’d like to see this bit, a new movie I just discovered that’s coming out April 1st starring the actor, titled Wrecked.

Wrecked movie poster

Wrecked is about a man who wakes up and finds himself in a wrecked car at the bottom of a ravine, not knowing who he is… but the clues build and it looks ugly.

“WRECKED will be in select theaters starting Friday, April 1st and is now available nationwide on demand from IFC Midnight, via Comcast, Cox, Cablevision, Time Warner, and Bright House and on iTunes.”

Theatrical Release Schedule

  • 4/1 – IFC Center – New York
  • 4/8 – Sunset 5 – LA
  • 4/16 – Gateway – Columbus, Ohio
  • 4/17 – Minneapolis FF – Minneapolis
  • 4/22 – Plaza – Atlanta
  • 4/29 – 360 | 365 FF – Rochester

It looks interesting.  Check out the Wrecked movie trailer:

Robert Rodriguez's Predators 56260

Cinema Static Reviews Predators: Predators does not disapoint the franchise at all and I don’t think any fan of the franchise will be disappointed.  Check out my movie review below, and it’s with minimal, if any spoilers:
-

I too have been checking out the movie reviews of Predators and I went into the theater not too worried, but with just enough reservation to protect my fragile state of “Fan’s-Mind!”

First and foremost, Predators is a sequel and not a reboot. That is made clear to us and that made the experience that much better knowing they were extending the franchise and not restarting it. (I’m getting tired of reboots. Move the story on people!)  Second, I’ve seen reviews noting the gore in the movie.  I’m not a fan of gore, but the gore was done well.  The movie was finally given an “R” rating for “strong creature violence and gore, and pervasive language.”  OK, there is some language.  We do tend to cuss when under the gun… or shoulder blaster.  Sure, the creatures were causing the violence.  That’s expected.  But the gore, to me, wasn’t fountains of blood spurting gore, though there are moments!  I’d put it on par with the first Predator movie.  Maybe a tick more but not by much.

Opening Movies for this Friday

This week for opening movies, we finally get to see what I think are two fun, anticipated films for the summer. Robert Rodriguez’s Predators & Despicable Me. A quiet film that has been smothered by all the hype from these previous mentioned movies, is The Kids Are All Right.

Predators

Robert Rodriguezs Predators 56218

Do I even need to note the movie summary? Sure, what the heck: A group of elite warriors are hunted by members of a merciless alien race known as Predators.

Predators stars Adrien Brody, Topher Grace, Alice Braga, Walton Goggins, Oleg Taktarov, Laurence Fishburne, Danny Trejo, et al.

Directed by Nimrod Antal (Armored, Vacancy).

Predators movie - a Predator Hound

Predators movie - a Predator Hound

June 29th saw the latest Predators movie trailer come out.  This is cool, but as always, is giving away a bit more of the film.  My suspicion is it’s removing yet more surprise or suspense from these moments, but for those of you who wish to absorb the trailers, here ye be.  (Me, I’m closing my eyes and looking away while I type and embed!  OK, that might make it a bit difficult!)

Predators is from Robert Rodriguez and stars Adrien Brody amongst many great cast members!

Robert Rodriguezs Predators 56218

Last time, I showed you some promo art from the new Predators movie, focusing on the new monsters.  Creepy cool and promising.  That’s what I saw.  But I was negligent in having the actors represented.  Sorry, I’m all about Predator… total hero of mine.

Therefore,

Here’s Adrian Brody as Royce:

Predators - Infrared Vision

This 30 second TV spot for Robert Rodriguez’s Predators has a lot of the same from other online trailers we’ve seen.

But there is a super fast snippet of trailer at the 23 second mark where we see a pack of at least 4 of the “dogs” that Predators have, or as we’ve been affectionately calling, the Predator Pets.

Predators - 1st sneak peek

63% of all homes have pets. Predators would seem to be no exception!
