Sanctuary Canceled By Syfy

In news that is not very surprising, THR has confirmed with Syfy that Sanctuary is not returning for a fifth season.

No $$$$ Sherlock!

And it’s about time that Syfy fessed to canceling Sanctuary instead of letting the fans continually hang on the deafening silence that was emanating from the net.

The silence was deafening as no news came out about the show back in February and it only became worse as networks were announcing their schedule of new shows and yet, Syfy said nary a word about the series, despite announcing their line up and fans continually inquiring.

Has Sanctuary Been Canceled By Syfy?  To be honest, fans have no hard evidence via press reports or Twitter slips by any of the cast or crew of Sanctuary.  But fans are wondering and circumstantial evidence seems to be adding up.

There is speculation out on the web that the Syfy series Sanctuary may not be coming back for a fifth season on the Comcast owned, NBC subsidiary network.  And in the wake of how the much beloved Eureka TV series was canceled, making the upcoming fifth season in 2012 of Eureka its last, the speculations have me wondering.

UPDATE 5-21-12:  Syfy has canceled Sanctuary.

This article was sparked around by a readers’ email I received today and I thought that they brought up some good points that I’d share with you, my readers.  In addition, I slap out a few more tidbits that I dug up out on the web.

The reader points will be labeled ‘RP.’

RP: The Syfy network has had nothing to say about another season for Sanctuary.

Yep… no news is usually good news and with the Syfy network, they tend to stall their announcements to as late as possible with any of their programming.

I’ve touched on this previously, surmising that when other other networks already know their lineups, Syfy usually waits to make their announcements.  I think it’s a marketing game because I can’t imagine any business like a TV cable network not knowing their schedule so few months ahead of time.

-

RP:  The title of the season (series?) finale “Sanctuary for None” is the exact opposite of the series beginning “Sanctuary for All.” There was no cliffhanger ending.

Can’t disagree with the observation!  I like it.

Syfy Channel Announces 7 New Scripted Shows – But Not Sure About Them

August 1, 2010

The Syfy Channel has announced 7 new scripted shows recently. I didn’t catch any air dates but I’m sure they’ll be coming within the year. Before this annoucement, I had all but given up on any new non-reality shows from the net. At first when I saw the press release, I was building a head [...]

No One Dies in Sci Fi: Why Ashley Magnus Can Still Be Alive in SANCTUARY

July 13, 2010

I don’t want to be accused of burying the lead so I will tell you now if you do not already know. Emilie Ullerup has confirmed in a recent interview that she has not been contacted by the producers of Sanctuary on the Syfy Channel. That means that the first ten episodes of season three [...]

Emilie Ullerup Was Removed From Sanctuary For All The Wrong Reasons

February 23, 2010

For days I’ve been trying to figure out what it is about the latest article with Damian Kindler that has made me so angry. From the beginning of Sanctuary’s Season 2, I didn’t understand the logic in killing off Ashley, played by Emilie Ullerup.  Even though I thought that they had underutilized her in Season [...]

Amanda Tapping Showing Up in Stargate Universe – Again

January 4, 2010

The last time we saw Amanda Tapping in Stargate Universe, it was a rather quick and hollow performance of Colonel Samantha Carter. It wasn’t her fault.  Execs stuffed in a few familiar faces thinking they were bridging the gap between old fans and the new show. Sadly, for me, it wasn’t bridged all that well. [...]

TV: Sanctuary Episode Titled "Eulogy"

October 24, 2009

In the Sanctuary episode titled “Eulogy”, it’s the aftermath of Ashley (Emilie Ullerup) being apparently killed.  The gang are putting the residents, new and old, back in their Sanctuary protected  rooms.  It’s pretty funny and interesting. The little fairy guy could be considered funny.  I wonder if he’s a new regular?  Cause if he is, [...]
