Edward James Olmos has already, in my mind, botched his authenticity with his vision of the BSG world with the television movie Battlestar Galactica, The Plan. If you call splicing together scenes from a 4-year TV series and adding a few more scenes in between as a directorial effort a good job, then you should be fine with this new idea of his.
Olmos is working on a Battlestar Galactica comic book sequel. At least that’s his hopes:
“I’m going to go there. I’m going to go there in a graphic novel,” he said. “Pretty soon I hope. I don’t know. It just depends on whether people can get behind it and understand it for what it is. I think people will.”

The upcoming Battlestar Galactica venue to grace the small screen is Battlestar Galactica: The Plan.
We here at SoB are of a mixed mind on this project.
My writer, Steve, said the following about BSG: The Plan:
Battlestar Galactica: The Plan. I thought it was very good. I watched it the other night and was impressed how the writers developed that story. Dean Stockwell’s Cylon character was the focus and they really showed his personal spiral towards Cylon extinction.

I may have come into this with too many expectations myself but Steve put it more succinct that I did.

Well we’ve made it, 2010 is right here, right now! 2009 sure went by in a hurry seems like it only took a few months.
Well the big movie release this week is the children’s film Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs. Can’t say its my movie pick of the week, but it sure sounds tasty. Riding Giants, the breathtaking surfing epic is my first movie DVD pick of the year. Its also available on Blu-ray. Sunshine Cleaning also receives a honorable mention.

The hotness of Tricia Helfer has transcended Victoria’s Secret quite nicely.
We’ve watched her in Battlestar Galactica and then Burn Notice. (Watch out Michael, she has a plan!)
She’s shown up in Chuck, Warehouse 13 and BSG: The Plan and gone down the comedy route of Two and a Half Men.
She has voiced characters in Green Lantern: First Flight, The Super Hero Squad Show and the video game Halo 3: ODST.
What’s coming up for Tricia Helfer?
She plays an engineer in Human Target, starring the chiseled chin Mark Valley.
She has more voice work in the video game StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, and we’ll see her in projects called The Dealership, Open House and is filming A Beginner’s Guide to Endings.
So we haven’t seen the last of her yet. Goodie!
When I heard about the movie Battlestar Galactica: The Plan, I was looking forward to seeing this new project that was directed by Edward James Olmos. It showed us some new material and gave us some extra insights into some events that happened during the first 2 years of the series.
But there were some downsides to The Plan.
I was expecting a stand alone movie dealing with the development of the Cylon’s plans to attack the humans. Instead, what I watched was a set of fragmented scenes of events that took place in parallel to the developing story of Battlestar Galactica through the first two seasons.
It was technically new material as we watched the goings on of the ordeal from the Cylon’s side of things. We relived many events of the first 2 seasons but in fragments. There was no cohesive development of the story.
If you did not watch the Battlestar Galactica TV series, this movie will make no sense and you will not be happy. Fortunately I suspect only BSG fans will probably be the only folk that pick this up, so my fears are mostly allayed.

If you live in the San Diego region, specifically near Little Italy, you might want to head off to the San Diego Reader website and sign up to try and win the Battlestar Galactica: The Plan DVD contest.
They aren’t mailing them out… they’re making contest winners go to their offices in Little Italy to pick them up. (Their address, which I’m presuming is where you go, for the San Diego Reader is 1703 India Street San Diego, 92101.)
This almost seems, numerically, like entering to win this particular contest, you may have a better chance to win than most contests where the whole world signs up!!!
Deadline for submission: 1 p.m., Friday, October 23.
GOOD LUCK!!!

Battlestar Galactica: The Plan is a spinoff movie from the science fiction TV series, Battlestar Galactica that aired on the Syfy Channel that came from the mind of Ronald D. Moore.
If you remember the opening monologue from each Battlestar Galactica (BSG) episode, we always heard that
“The Cylons are created by man, there are many of them, and some of them don’t know that they are Cylons. And they have a plan.”
This movie is that plan, The Plan. All stories have two sides. Right?
The Plan is a different look at the beginning of all the problems that humanity encountered. We find ourselves following the destruction of the human Colonies from the perspective of the Cylons.
