Grace Park in 'Hawaii Five-0' season 2

Ah, finally, Hawaii Five-0, starring Alex O’Loughlin has returned for it’s second season and the season premiere of Hawaii Five-0 had much along the entertainment value.  But it also had moments of EP.  That’s extreme predictability.  But I’m not sure that the EP was avoidable in the Hawaii Five-0 episode titled “Ha’i'ole.”

The season premiere of Hawaii Five-0, pulled in just under 12 million viewers.  It didn’t beat it’s competitor on ABC, Castle, but it beat everything else.  Being beat by Nathan Fillion in Castle is acceptable to this website!

Moderate to Serious H50 Spoilers Ahead

Alex O'Loughlin in 'Hawaii Five-0'

As we all know/recall, the Governor is dead.  Duplicitous in multiple layers of criminal behavior, the ilk of the criminal way caught up to her.  But then Steve McGarrett was implicated in her murder.

I thought it was going to be a far stretch of connected story lines to get McGarrett out of this predicament, but through a few leaps of story-line faith, it actually happened!

The Grey’s Anatomy & Private Practice pairing on Thursday nights is sticking around and they have the lead-in with the new rendition of Charlie’s Angels.

Those are the focuses for this household for this site… at least when I don’t control the remote!  LOL.

Cinema Static on Brusimm logo

This week starts up the mid-season TV schedule where shows have taken some breaks to give the holiday fare room to benefit.  Now our favorites like Castle, Hawaii Five-0, Parenthood, Detroit 187 & Caprica are returning!  I thought you’d like to have this, the first first a few reminders, what TV series are either kicking it back in gear, starting new, or ending so that you don’t miss the mid-season premieres, if indeed you enjoy sitting down to live TV telecasts!

First up,

Monday Night TV Premieres, 1/3/11:

ABC

*Seriously, ABC needs to revisit this idea when they had so few applicants that they had to scrape the bottom of the barrel for Brad Womack.  (Yea, but how do I really feel?)

Cinema Static on Brusimm logo

We’re all wondering what’s up with some of our favorite shows from some of our favorite networks…  so I dug up all my press releases and scoured the web and my arms are tired…  oh, wrong joke.  I’ve pulled together the 2010/2011 season return/premiere dates for A&E, ABC, AMC, BBC America, Cartoon Network, CBS, The CW, DirecTV, FOX, FX, HBO, NBC, Showtime, STARZ, The Syfy Channel, TNT & USA networks.

Some dates are generic as in Spring or Summer of 2011, while others are still to be determined (TBD).

Where show titles start with ‘the’, I’ve put it at the end of the title for sorting purposes.  The Cape will look like Cape, The;  Apprentice, The; Walking Dead, The; and so forth.  I did that because sometimes I don’t remember that there’s a ‘the’ at the beginning of a show’s name so what the heck.

Don’t Be Confused by one particular show in the list, Being Human.  It’s been on BBC America for a few years and while it is still actively in production and airing on BBC, the Syfy Channel has done their own re-imagined version.  Yep, I don’t get it either.  The date for Caprica is a marathon date…  all remaining episodes will air on January 4th.

Speaking of Caprica, there are four shows we’re saying farewell to for this 2010/2011 midseason schedule:  Caprica, Friday Night LightsLife Unexpected, Medium & Undercovers.

There are a lot of shows that I don’t cover on the site but since I was pulling the info together I thought I’d include it all.  Below are several lists.  Don’t be fooled.  It’s the same list sorted a million ways because I don’t know how to put one listing in a post with sortable headers.  Besides, being the Excel guru that I think I am, it was just easier to sort and sort and sort.

Tables are sorted thus:

  • 1st chart by TV Series name,
  • 2nd chart by date,
  • 3rd chart by network.

At least that’s the plan, here under the Cinema Static column on Brusimm.com!  I’ve highlighted in the alphabetical list which shows we watch and I suddenly get why I’m so dang tired these days!!!

UPDATED with new premiere date for Smallville and Supernatural.

Wolverine Sequel
-

Wolverine 2 movie The Wolverine

The sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine found itself a title in the news… or something like that and will be called The Wolverine.  It is going to be more of a one-off sequel that explores the character without strong tie-ins to the original set of franchise movies.

Shooting is slated to begin early 2011 and Hugh Jackman (Australia, The Prestige; upcoming: Real Steel) returns to the title role and Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan, The Wrestler; upcoming: The Fighter) is directing.  It is written by Christopher McQuarrie (Valkyrie, The Usual Suspects; upcoming: The Tourist).

Tell me that isn’t an impressive collective of artistry!

The sequel will be based loosely on the Frank Miller and Chris Claremont Wolverine comics mini-series from the 80′s that takes place in Japan and will include Silver Samurai.  At least according to sources that later were shut down by Fox Legal.  (For some reason, rather than doing a web search for “principal character list from wolverine 2″ and finding all sites reporting the news, they only looked at some of the main player sites and them pull the info.)  Eh.

It should be fun to see this on-off.  Logan is nothing but a rich source for one-off’s with all the titles and such from the comic franchise.
