The X-FilesIt has been thirteen years since the X-Files bowed out of television, leaving fans to languish in memories and VCR/DVR viewings. And for a short while, Fringe sort of made out like a great new version of something that X-Files could be, until they jumped the shark with that crap alien/bald guy timeline jump in the story line. (WTH, who thought of that one?)

But now the rumors and hopes and such can be put to rest.

Fox just announced that they are putting out an X-Files six-episode “event series” that will be helmed by the same man who brought us the series, Chris Carter, and despite what ever anyone might have said, our known stars, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will be reprising their roles as FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.

Fox will commence production of the show in the summer of this year (2015) but no other information is known at this time.

As you can see, Fox is being very careful about committing too much to this X-Files revival, producing only a six-episode “event,” which I believe is code for “We don’t believe until we see it” succeed.

It should be interesting to see what they make of their characters and stories that were floating around in that last season or two of the series, where aliens were chasing down Scully’s baby or what not.
