Brusimm Cinema Static Movie NewsThe following are some Cinema Static thoughts or opinions on The Avengers; the early sales of The Dark Knight Rises movie tickets and and taking 21 Jump Street down the comedic route… what???

Read on gang, see what I have to say…  =

The Avengers

the avengers - captain america

If you have not heard, it seems like The Avengers movie is going to be presented to the movie-goer from the perspective of Steve Rogers, aka, Captain America.

Which might make sense, since in the comics, Captain America led the Avengers.

It will be interesting as Joss Whedon has brought ensembles to the fans before and how he’s choosing to bring the narrative to the movie-goer now.

I’m looking forward to The Avengers.

The Dark Knight Rises

Christian Bale in The Dark Knight Rises

Did you know that some screenings of The Dark Knight Rises have already sold out?  Yep… the movie doesn’t come out until July, but Fandango has been selling tickets to the movie already.  This has culminated in the sell-outs of midnight screenings of The Dark Knight Rises in New York and Los Angeles.

Boo… if you life in LA or NY.

Brusimm Cinema Static Movie NewsToday I’m sticking some movie news out there about some favorite movie projects of mine…  of the news, I received the one-sheet for Joss Whedon‘s The Cabin in the Woods, and some news bites for Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight Rises and Ridley Scott’s Prometheus!  Yummy good stuff.

Check it out:

-

Finally A New Poster for The Cabin In The Woods

The one-sheet for the movie from Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard was released to the general small-press!  (That’s me!)  That movie is called The Cabin In the Woods.

The Cabin in the Woods is directed by Goddard and written by both Goddard and Joss Whedon, with Whedon producing.

It stars Richard Jenkins, Bradley Whiteford, Jesse Williams (Grey’s Anatomy), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Fran Kranz, Kristen Connolly, Brian White, Amy Acker and a whole bunhc more!

Below is the new movie poster.  And I think I’ve seen the script for it, and the poster, to me, makes perfect sense.

All I’m going to say is that in the poster, we’re looking up at the house.  And that falls right in line with something I know from the supposed script.  Merhaha.  Just mark my words.

The Cabin in the Woods is due out April 13th, 2012.  Check out the poster after the break…

Brusimm Cinema Static Movie NewsThis piece is a quick chat on Christian Bale hanging up his bat-cowl, and some thoughts on the upcoming Batman reboot and Justice League movie from Warner Bros..

-

Christian Bale has confirmed in an interview in “The Philippine Daily Enquirer” that this third Batman film from Christopher Nolan, will be his final take on the Bruce Wayne character, or his alter-ego, Batman.

It makes sense, considering that Christopher Nolan has always said his vision of Batman was a three-film deal, that Christian Bale will also be pulling back from the role.  It’s been a wonderful combo of talent that has brought the light of this comic book hero to life, and this particular combo is coming to a close when The Dark Knight Rises hits movie theaters in July of 2012.

-

Justice League Movie and Batman Reboot

And I think it’s also a good idea the Bale send this message to Warner Bros., considering that Warner Bros. is looking to move forward with what I consider to be a hair-brained idea of rebooting the Batman movie franchise after Nolan’s third chapter.

Brusimm Cinema Static Movie NewsThe other day someone asked me a question about a movie and I drew a wonderfully large, blank answer for them.  LOL.  Just a stress moment or two I guess.  But it sparked a thought and so I went digging and pulled up the production status’ of some of the more popular, or anticipated or chatted about movies out there over under IMDb…  check it out…

Movie Titles in Development

For most, development is just a technical term for the idea that it’s being thought about.  For some films, development stage is where no market test supports an idea and studios with money stop thinking about it!

·     The Fast and the Furious 6: Directed by Justin Lin, starring of course, Vin Diesel!  Due out May of 2013

·     Ghostbusters III:  Directed by Ican Reitman, with Eliza Dushku, Bill Murray and the gang… it’s due out whenever they figure out that 2nd draft of the screenplay!

·     Avatar 2, from James Cameron, is due out Dec of 2014.

·     The Wolverine, directed by James Mangold (Knight and Day).  Hugh Jackman is due to return sometime in 2013.

·     Jurassic Park IV is noted as story ideas being considered.

Henry Cavill as Superman in "Man of Steel" first look

Hey gals, in case there are any lady genre fans out there waiting patiently for the Henry Cavill starrer, Man of Steel, there are some new pics out on the web (below).  The new Superman movie from director Zack Snyder, is coming from the keyboards of David S. Goyer, & Christopher Nolan.  Nolan is also producing.

From the set pic below, with Cavill cavorting around mostly neked and ripped, this is a look I’ve only seen maybe once or twice from the Superman franchise.  And it looks cool, it looks promising.

Nolan has been known, from his Dark Knight trilogy, to take from great story lines and make them better…  so between Goyer and Nolan, with Snyder directing, this seems to have the potential of being one of the better Superman films, ever.

Cinema Static - TV News, Movie News and other Entertainment news and opinionI was tooling around looking at the different movies and their production status.  Since I was digging around, I thought I’d slap some of what I saw out here…

This week a few movies changed their production status so the list of movies and their production status changes a wee bit as to what they’re up to, but here is where several movies, like The Expendables 2, The Hunger Games, The Dark Knight Rises, The Avengers and such stand.

Eliza Dushku fans will be happy to see she’s in a film on this list… if it makes it to filming.

Remember, development could be anything from, “Hey, I have an idea!” to a script written and submitted for someone to think “Hey, this is a good idea!”    As a great example, the vapor movie that Microsoft seems will never move on, Halo, is listed as “in development.”  You do the math.  Some films have chances and some films aren’t even in the running.  I’ve tried sticking to those that have had the most media and look like they’re a go.

Movies in Development

·     The Fast and the Furious 6
I’m sure that once production starts on this film, that the premise of Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson being attached will help it do well in the anticipation department as well as the box office!

·     Ghostbusters III
From the cast listing, it looks like the old gang is back in a job (in every sense of the word,) as Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson are noted as attached, as well as Joss Whedon favorite Eliza Dushku.

·     Jurassic Park IV

·     The Wolverine
Word on the street was that they were going through some script rewrites.

·     Untitled Star Trek Sequel

With all the news being splattered out there about the New York City shoot for Joss Whedon’s The Avengers, it seems that the shooting for Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight Rises that was taking place in Los Angeles, CA was slightly over-looked or overwhelmed!  Battle of the marketing machines?

'The Dark Knight Rises' Teaser Poster

This is the second weekend where The Dark Knight Rises is being shot in the Los Angeles region, specifically around 3rd street, downtown.  Reportedly Morgan Freeman and Anne Hathaway have been sighted on the set there.

Man of Steel movie news – Henry Cavill First Look

It’s spreading like wildfire as a select number of sites received their first promotional image from Warner Bros. Pictures of Henry Cavill in the iconic red and blue suit of Superman, from the Zack Snyder helmed film, Man of Steel.

Henry Cavill as Superman in "Man of Steel" first look

It could be worse!  It’s an interesting texture that covers the suit and to be honest, I might never have guessed this was Henry Cavill.  He seems to be able to deliver very different looks in his movies!

I think it’s a good thing that Warner Bros. released this image.  After the travesty of a story called Sucker Punch, some folks became very worried about this Zack Snyder project.  For me Sucker Punch proved once again that visually, Snyder can deliver.  (I said visually!)

Christopher Nolan‘s third Batman movie titled The Dark Knight Rises is starting to get some more media attention. This time with the arrival of what we would call the Batmobile, on-set in the Pittsburgh filming location.

DARK KNIGHT Batmobile on-set

As you can see from the SuperHeroHype photo, the Batpod (covered) is also showing up on the set.

I hope that this appearance of the Batmobile from the previous Batman movie is actually in this third movie. I was just thinking about how everytime there’s a new movie of a franchise, the dang vehicles and outfits always change. For once, it looks like there’s a possibility that we’ll be seeing the same Batmobile in ‘Rises.’

Seeing this vehicle brought me back to a few weeks ago when I was watching the 2nd Batman movie, The Dark Knight and thinking about the Bat-suit… will it look the same or changed up a bit for the new movie, plus, if this will affect that peculiar fighting style we see demonstrated in the first two Nolan Bat-films.

Christian Bale of course will be playing the titular role of Batman and his alter-ego, Bruce Wayne… or the other way around. Which ever you prefer.

One of my idiosyncrasies with TV and movies are how well the fight choreography is orchestrated. Having studied and taught martial arts, I have developed a critical eye towards fight scenes in various entertainment venues.
