Sean Murray in NCIS fr 2009

Sean Murray in NCIS fr 2009

- Sean Murray plays Special agent Timothy McGee on CBS’s notoriously popular NCISNCIS cast also includes Mark Harmon, Michael Weatherly, Pauley Perrette, David McCallum and a slew of others in this high rated TV show.

But of late, fans have become concerned with what looks like Sean Murray’s weight loss over the last few seasons.

Fans are going nuts worried about what they feel is a new, sickly look of Sean Murray.  But publicity releases from both CBS and Sean Murray himself are saying he’s not sick.  In fact Murray took to twitter a long time ago and said he had lost 25 pounds by abstaining from alcohol and sugar.

You can check the above referenced article for everyone’s worries on Sean’s health.

But has anyone ever wondered, before NCIS, where we’ve possibly seen Sean?

Christopher Heyerdahl, The Many Looks of(FYI, the above image is a screenshot of a Google image search result… )

I first became aware of Christopher Heyerdahl in Stargate Atlantis, when he played Todd the Wraith.  My household enjoyed Todd’s role in the scheme of things in the Stargate franchise and we became curious about Christopher Heyerdahl.

Now, it’s almost a game to find him in TV shows or movies he has a part in.  And he isn’t hard to locate.  He’s tall (6’4″) and has himself a unique, smooth and  voice the is very easy to identify, and is a part of his varied number of roles and looks.

If you’re wondering, Christopher Heyerdahl is half Norwegian and half Scottish… creating a unique persona that he carries with him to the screen.

Michael Weatherly in NCIS on CBSI was asked a question in my comment zone on an article about Michael Weatherly, of NCIS fame,  here on the Cinema Static section on Brusimm.com.  The question left behind was the following:

“Does Michael Weatherly have an ex-wife that plays on the Young and the Restless?”

First, to deal with one of your questions Carmen, yes.  Michael Weatherly was married to Amelia Heinle.  Amelia Heinle has played Mia Saunders on the soap opera, All My Children, from 2001 to 2004.  She’s also played Victoria Newman and all her name variations on The Young and the Restless from 2005 to 2011.

Weatherly and Newman had a son in 1996, named August Manning.

-

While digging this up, I found out a few interesting things about Michael Weatherly I thought I’d toss out here for your intellectual digestion…  I mean there’s stuff here that I either didn’t know or forgot I knew!

Michael is the son of Michael Manning Weatherly Sr., who was (is?) the American importer for the Swiss Army Knife!

The lucky bugger was also dated Rachel Hunter and was engaged at one time to Jessica Alba, who called him her first love.  It was suggested in an interview with her that Michael was… the first guy, that, well, you know.  Dude, talk about blazing coveted trails!

This coming Saturday, June 4th, Red Faction: Origins will be premiering on the Syfy Channel at 9 p.m..  It stars Robert Patrick, Tamzin Merchant, Brian J. Smith, Kate Vernon, Gareth David-Lloyd, but most importantly, Danielle Nicolet will be portraying Tess De La Vega.

Danielle NicoletI had a chance to spend an hour with her and what came of our chat is this exclusive Cinema Static interview with Danielle Nicolet.  I wanted to know everything about our guest.  We chatted about many things about the versatile actress, from her beginnings in Ohio, her journey to So Cal in pursuit of the Olympics and her experience and character in Red Faction: Origins that will be airing on the Syfy Channel this Saturday.

I also asked her to send out some advice to aspiring actors.

I had a wonderful time chatting with this versatile, quirky and funny actress.  And with that, let’s see what  I uncovered chatting with Danielle Nicolet!  If you’re a fan, I think you’ll enjoy this interview.

-

A Bit About Danielle Nicolet

-

Danielle hails from the huge mecca of Ashtabula, Ohio!  She grew up there just a few steps from the shores of Lake Erie where she spent lots of time as a kid splashing around in.  In her youth she was pretty good at gymnastics.  Good enough to be invited to train in Southern California.  In her younger days, she pursued the sport and aspired to go to the Olympics.  But as Danielle put it,

My brain wanted to go to the Olympics, my knees did not.

By the age of 14, she had her third knee surgery and that was the deciding factor of when she started focusing on her next love, acting.

But just because she stopped one sport doesn’t mean the girl doesn’t love her sports!  She’s a huge sports fanatic and a huge football fan.  “Go Steelers!“  She also loves boxing and tennis.  (Stay thy hearts boys!)  She participates 3 or 4 times a week in Bikram Yoga.  Yes, it’s that Yoga where they practice in a room whose temperature is set to over 100 degrees.

Thinking of the guys out there, I asked her if there is someone special in her life.  Sorry guys, but there is.  A man outside the entertainment industry.

Mike Dopud in ECHOES

Mike Dopud in ECHOES

In case you didn’t know, the man who plays Varro on Stargate Universe, Mike Dopud, is a busy man indeed. This is a Cinema Static Personality Focus piece.

In an interview over on the Baltimore Sun, Mike Dopud thought he was a shoe-in for the third season of Stargate Universe, but as any fan will attest to, the very last episode of this wonderful show will be airing May 9th on the Syfy channel.  He was disappointed about the developments but then put the nose to the grindstone and got to work, but as you look at his career, he’s been a very busy man, period.

Right now he’s filming a pilot for Fox called Exit Strategy, starring alongside Ethan Hawke.

While doing that, he snuck away to film his part in the pilot for the project Echoes.  That’s being prepared by SGU alumni creative team of Mark Savela and Ken Kabatoff.

But also of interest is that you can catch him in the upcoming movies on the silver screen, Mission Impossible 4, Rise of the Planet of the Apes & This Means War.

For the Battlestar Galactica diehard, he will be playing an integral role in the upcoming prequel/spinoff on the Syfy channel called Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome.

Like I said, the man is busy and that’s a great thing because we here at Cinema Static like him.

In that interview he touched on how Varro was becoming a trusted member on board the Destiny in SGU and that he hinted at Varro and TJ maybe getting together, at least if it had gone into a third season.

Christopher Nolan

-

The Dark Knight Rises lq

What started out as a single paragraph piece on Christopher Nolan doing his last Batman movie, something erupted from my brain apparently needed out.  Then again, Nolan has an incredible knack to translate any material, any subject, any franchise into a wonderfully digestible film-form that has converted many a film-goer into fans of his work.  Work is the wrong word…  his art.

-

First the Batman 3 News

Yes, as it has been said or conjectured, Christopher Nolan finally came out and made it official by saying that Batman 3 (The Dark Knight Rises) is his last chapter of the Batman saga that he has helmed through the years.  He also confirmed that Tom Hardy will have some role in the third chapter of Nolan’s Bats franchise.  As far as this being the last film, Christopher Nolan said in an interview, “to be embarking on the last chapter of our Batman saga without any sense of obligation or duty to the studio.

Also of note is that Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas swatted down this premature idea that Heath Ledger footage being the Joker will be in Batman 3.  Nolan added that the script isn’t even finished yet.

Pfft… at this point, who will start believing the Google results that say this or that site already has Batman 3 up for free?

Some Christopher Nolan Thoughts

This is officially a sad day to be sure for anyone who is both a Batman fan and a Nolan fan with this being his last film in the DC Franchise of Bruce Wayne.  For me, Nolan brought the mythology of Batman into a film-realm that dealt a serious tone to the franchise, giving it validity in the eyes of other genre movie fans.

What Tim Burton did with his vision of Batman was fine for the day, but his interpretation of the enemies of Batman diluted the chance for some fans to become new genre fans.  He tread the line between the campy Adam West Batman and The Dark Knight chapters of the franchise.  The blend of a serious hero and campy, doofy criminals just didn’t work for me but I had to tolerate it because it was all I had of one of my favorite DC characters.  Yet  I don’t think what Burton did, did the franchise any justice.  And when actors wouldn’t stay on to reprise the role of Bruce Wayne,  a message was starting to appear on the wall.

Robert Knepper

(Stargate Universe, Heroes, Prison Break)

Robert Knepper and Sarah Wayne Callies (The Walking Dead) in Prison Break

Originally published Dec 1, 2010:  When I was first introduced to Robert Knepper, it was during his tenure on the Fox television series Prison Break when he was playing Theodore ‘T-Bag’ Bagwell.  In Prison Break he starred alongside Sarah Wayne Callies (The Walking Dead), Wentworth Miller (Resident Evil: Afterlife) and Dominic Purcell (3 upcoming TV projects, 1 being Straw Dogs).

Since Prison Break, Robert has starred in Heroes as Samuel Sullivan and made 2 one-up guest appearances, one on Chase and another on Criminal Minds this year.  His latest role I’ve seen was on Stargate Universe as the focused, evil-minded Simeon, who, as you’ll see, well… if you’ve watched it, you’ll see.

Robert Knepper and Julia Benson from Earth's Final Hours a Syfy Channel Movie

In upcoming projects, Robert Knepper has a TV movie in production that’s due out in mid-2011, titled Earth’s Final Hours where he’ll star alongside Julia Benson, Cameron Bright &  Bruce Davison.  Maybe I should be saying they’ll star alongside Robert.  According to an update from Julie Benson’s blog, it is a Syfy Channel movie.

John DebneySometimes when you watch a movie or television show you never notice the soundtrack in the background.  Sometimes you do and that can be a good or a bad thing.

But when you find yourself pulled along in a plot because of the music, it’s possible you were listening to something put together by John Debney, a very sought after composer in the  industry.

INCEPTION L-R Leonardo DiCaprio and Christopher Nolan

L-R Leonardo DiCaprio and Christopher Nolan on the set of Inception

Leonardo DiCaprio is making a huge name for himself in the entertainment industry and I’ll explain why I’ve said this, in this quick Cinema Static Personality Focus!

The first time I took notice of Leonardo DiCaprio, was in James Cameron‘s 1997 movie, “Titanic.”  Whether that was THE launch project that put him in the limelight or any of the 11 previous hit movies he was in that helped launch him there, I’d say it was the cumulative effort on his part.  But if there’s one thing for me, he’s cemented his iconic status in Hollywood with Christopher Nolan‘s Inception!  Regardless it’s curious to see that he’s had a true Hollywood beginning, as Leonardo DiCaprio was born November 11th, 1974 in Hollywood, CA.

Leonardo DiCaprio in TITANIC

You might remember him from the 1990 TV series “Santa Barbara” in the 5 episodes as the Young Mason Capwell, or as Luke Brower in the 1991 TV series “Growing Pains.”  But from TV, he seemed to focus purely on movies.  His first credited movie is “Critters 3,” landed his “Growing Pains” role just after that and since then, he’s been seen in 20+ movies.

Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton in FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS

Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton in FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS

The other day I was skimming through the channels and came across the 1996 show called “Early Edition.”

If you don’t recall it, “Early Edition” was about a guy named Gary Hobson, who gets the newspaper from the next day, giving him 24 hours to fix any wrongs he might see in the paper.  I remember watching it way back then and I don’t remember cringing. In it, Gary Hobson was played by a familiar looking guy… a very young version of a familiar looking guy: Kyle Chandler.

Kyle Chandler plays Gary Hobson in “Early Edition” and of late, plays Coach Taylor in “Friday Night Lights.” But how did he get here today? Prior to “Early Edition,” he had regular roles in the 1990 series “Tour of Duty,” and then was on the 1991 show “Homefront” for 42 episodes. Since “Early Edition,” he’s had recurring roles on “The Lyon’s Den” & “Grey’s Anatomy.”
