The Wolverine

If you were pondering where in the mythos that the Darren Aronofsky (The Fighter, Black Swan) directed The Wolverine movie may fall in the scheme of things, starring Hugh Jackman, ponder this:

Aronofsky has said that we should not consider this movie to be a sequel, but rather as a one-off. Like a parallel issue under a comic title.

With Aronofsky at the helm, I presume we’ll be in for a bit more character driven story than action packed. That could be good for the franchise. If you add in the screenwriter of Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects, The Tourist), this could come out as a great, overall movie that can draw in all kinds of new fans.
