New Releases on DVD & Blu-ray: Drive, ST:TNG; The Thing, TF3 3D

This week there are over 100 new releases coming to DVD & Blu-ray discs this week, on Tuesday, January 31st, 2012.

Stars hitting the home entertainment venue this week include Ryan Gosling, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried, Gregory Peck, Steve Martin and Richard Gere.

Featured amongst these new titles are Drive, Star Trek: The Next Generation, The Thing and the 3D Blu-ray release of Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

Drive Starring Ryan Gosling and Bryan Cranston. (It behooves me to remind you of the marketing of this film… see my warning and movie review of Drive)

There are over 100 new DVD & Blu-ray releases coming out this week but there are only a few big titles are hitting the market that might interest you. Celebrities you’ll see on the new DVD and Blu-ray discs include Hugh Jackman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Katie Featherston, Claude Rains, Woody Allen and more.

There seem to be quite a few first-time to Blu-ray titles, including a few Woody Allen movies:

Starring Hugh Jackman, Evangeline Lilly and Dakota Goyo

This movie surprised me as it was more than just a fighting robot movie (CS’s movie review) If you were on the fence about this, I don’t think you’d go wrong renting or buying this movie. It was a fun movie with pretty awesome CGI.

Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen

A movie about a man struggling to beat his cancer diagnosis, the IMDb score for this movie is at 8.0 and it has made $35M at the domestic box office. I haven’t seen the movie but it sounds like it would be an incredible rental and you probably wouldn’t be wasting your money on the DVD or Blu-ray

This week we have a few great titles, both new and classic coming out on new DVD & Blu-ray releases this week! There are just over 60 new DVD and Blu-ray releases coming out this week, on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012. The first wave of DVD releases of new movies on DVD in 2012!

Amongst the new movies on DVD & Blu-ray releases this week are titles such as Alfred Hitchock, Attack of the Vegan Zombies… Eh?. Oh, then Contagion, and the TV series Justified starring Timothy Olyphant are just a few items that are on their way this week. Also keep your eye out for an older movie with both John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale coming out on Blu-ray.

We even have a few movies that aired on the Syfy channel… Ice Quake & Red: Werewolf Hunter, starring Felicia Day, Kavan Smith, Stephen McHattie and Greg Bryk.

Christmas has come and gone. We’re spent and exhausted, presents have been delivered and now we’re gearing up for New Year’s Eve. But the marketing machine that is, never stops. New DVD and Blu-ray Releases this Week [Dolphin Tale, Midnight in Paris]

This week, the tide of new DVD & Blu-ray releases is slowing down a bit with the Christmas season in full swing! There are around 70 new titles hitting the market this week on Tuesday, December 20th, 2011.

You can look for stars such as Harry Connick Jr., Owen Wilson, Dianna Agron, Morgan Freeman, Chad Michael Murray, Tom Hardy, Kevin Spacey and Paul Bettany amongst the list that you can take home.

Before I charge in to the new releases, don’t forget that some folks on your Christmas lists (Or maybe yourself!) might like to get some more popular older titles… I for one am looking to start filling up my Blu-ray coffers a little bit… and some of these titles are priced pretty decently. I mean heck, if you wait long enough, older titles get pretty well priced!

Christmas is coming at us fast… if we have movie fans on our shopping lists, sometimes it’s pretty convenient to hit up online resources and git these titles in the mail pronto!!!

Movies coming out this week on new DVD & Blu-ray releases on Tuesday, December 13th, include stars such as Jack Black (voice), James Franco, Seth MacFarlane (voice), Timothy Dalton, Colin Farrell & some classic Judy Garland (on a new Blu-ray Disc {BD}). (And don’t forget, if you’re interested, you can sign up for a chance to win Farscape, the entire series, on Blu-ray. Now that would be a great gift for ~~yourself~~ loved on your list I mean!)

If you ask me about whether you want to BRoWT (Buy, Rent, or Wait till it comes to TV), I think this is one of those special movies that would do a fine job sitting on your entertainment shelf for repeated viewing.

IMDb score, after almost 42k votes, sits at 7.5. That’s a good score!

Jumping from the family friendly animated film to the serious movie buff and fan of the franchise, we have this week,

Rise of the Planet of the Apes (Two-Disc Edition Blu Ray + DVD/Digital Copy Combo)

Rise of the Planet of the Apes, starring James Franco, Andy Serkis and Freida Pinto.

As far as I’m concerned, this prequel to the Planet of the Apes classic movie franchise did the franchise justice and did not disappoint.

This week, there are more than 100 new DVD & Blu-ray releases coming out this Tuesday, December 6th, 2011.

With Emma Stone, Bradley Cooper, Daniel Craig, Jim Carrey, & Sam Worthington leading the fray of new DVD’s. Other interesting titles you might want to ponder a few other titles down the list, like from The Biggest Loser, or cult fan favorite like Mystery Science Theater 3000!

There are quite a few exercise DVD’s, which I’m presuming, are aimed at all the holiday eating we’ll be doing and how we’ll need to work it all off again!

Having made $199M worldwide and being the number one movie at the box office for quite a few weeks, this breakout hit movie is rated 8 on IMDb… this would seem to be a must-see, must-catch any way you can movie, if you haven’t already seen it in the movie theater.

The Hangover Part II from Warner Bros. Pictures and starring Bradley Cooper and Zach Galifianakis.

Buy, Rent or Wait?:

with an $80M budget, and having made $565M worldwide in movie theaters, the movie has a 6.7 rating on IMDb.

Buy it? Eh. Renting it seems to be the thing to do here.
