ghost hunters

Syfy channel Logo‘Tis the season.  At least on Syfy, ’tis the season to have Christmas episodes of Eureka, Warehouse 13, Haven and some adult Scooby Doo time with Ghost Hunters.  And if that’s not enough, the Syfy channel has a few TV marathons in store for you… including their annual Twilight Zone marathon!  (Sigh, remember the days when The Twilight Zone marathons were the norm for most holiday weekends?)

This year though, Syfy is having a viewers vote contest for fans, who can vote for what their favorite Twilight Zone episodes!

Check it all out below!

This year the Syfy channel is starting off it’s Christmas holiday season with the miniseries / Peter Pan prequel, NeverlandNeverland will be airing on December 4th and 5th.

Brusimm Cinema Static TV NewsThis upcoming 2011 Thanksgiving holiday weekend, we have a few things going on around the house, much like I suspect you do.  If you’re going to be taking it easy and just hanging out around your home, whether it’s quietly stashed away, or with loved ones, your TV is going to be staring at you… calling your name, saying ‘watch me,’ I have all kinds of TV series marathons or movie marathons going on.

I see The Walking Dead, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Battlestar Galactica, NCIS, & a Firefly* marathon…  (*If you get Science Channel)

So if you pick up that remote and fire it off at your TV, here are a few things coming up for the Thanksgiving weekend… a TV marathon or two, so to speak.

And folks…  to anyone coming by, whether you’re popping in once or a repeat offender (visitor) checking out this post, I want to say from the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who comes by and visits my tiny little corner of the web.

Happy Thanksgiving and bless all of you and yours…

Now, back to my regularly scheduled snark and stuff…

Syfy channel LogoThis coming Thanksgiving holiday (2011) the Syfy channel will be hitting up viewers with a James Bond movie marathon.  If you’re a James Bond kind of fan, I’m guessing that’s a good thing.

There will be fifteen Bond movies on Syfy, and you’ll get to see every single actor who has portrayed the romanticizing secret agent, from the venerable Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Pierce Brosnan to Daniel Craig, the latest Double-Oh Seven agent.

All this skullduggery and espionage of ’007′ starts airing on Syfy on Wednesday, November 23 with the midnight showing of You Only Live Twice.

Now if you’re a Sci Fi sort of fan and not a James Bond fan, not all hope is lost on this Thanksgiving weekend.

On Saturday, November 26 at 9PM (ET/PT), we will have presented to us the world premiere of the Saturday Original Movie Storm War!

Syfy channel LogoWe have some great news about Syfy series premieres for Merlin, Being Human, Face Off, Ghost Hunters, Lost Girl and more.

-

Merlin

First up…  Syfy‘s Merlin season 4 will be premiering on Friday, January 6th, 2012.

Colin Morgan plays Merlin, Bradley James is the young Prince Arthur, Angel Coulby is Gwen and Katie McGrath plays the evil, and outcast Morgana. Anthony Head returns as King Uther and Richard Wilson as Gaius.

Merlin is a great little entertaining piece that takes an old tale and spins a great new angle that’s pretty entertaining to follow.  It’s like a prequel of sorts.  And it grows on you from episode to episode!

-

Being Human

Being Human will be returning to Syfy for its second season premiere on January 16th, 2012.

Being Human stars Sam Witwer, Meaghan Rath and Sam Huntington as a vampire, ghost and werewolf, as this series, based on an idea from Toby Whithouse.  And so far, the series has pretty much followed the original series outline, so there’s been no real surprises, but it’s still a great sci-fi drama on Syfy.  I think it’s one of their bests shows they have to offer.

New Movies & TV Shows on DVD and Blu-ray

-New DVD and Blu-ray releases coming out this week on September 13th include adventures in a galaxy far, far away (Star Wars) on Blu-ray; Asgardian gods with Chris Hemsworth as Thor; and a few TV shows hitting the new DVD release list like the most excellent Starz TV series Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, Glee, Supernatural, Grey’s Anatomy and a bunch more of TV shows!

(R.I.P. Andy Whitfield; 1974-2011)

Plus I had just received some news a the entire Farscape series coming to Blu-ray.  No, Farscape is not coming out this week, but at a later date.  But I thought it’s cool news for fans of the series I thought I’d share!

Other Blu-ray news includes the entire Star Wars saga… well, at least what movies have been released to date, has come out in a whopping big Blu-ray release, due out September 16th.  I have press release details for that down at the bottom of this article, if you need to weigh out your options and are considering picking up this new packaging product, you can check out those details below.

There are a lot of first time to Blu-ray [Blu-ray] movie titles vs. new movies just hitting the market.

With that said, let’s see what’s coming out this week and you can set and plot what you might be interested in either ordering online or heading out to pick up from your local retail store:

The 2011 Super Bowl is this Sunday.  I think everyone on the planet is aware of that.  If you’re on top of some of the latest news, you know there will be no cheerleaders in the Super Bowl.

I have some friends who are not into the world of sports and they tend to figure out alternative programming or things to do.

One option is the alternative programming to the Super Bowl… as in what’s on while the Super Bowl is on?

So what are your TV options besides the big game?

-

  • 1000 Ways to Die marathon on Spike
  • Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team marathon, on CMT
  • Ghost Hunters marathon on the Syfy Channel
  • Jersey Shore / Teen Mom 2 marathon on MTV
  • Law & Order marathon on TNT
  • Law & Order SVU marathon on USA
  • Sex and the City marathon on E!
  • The Puppy Bowl, Animal Planet, 3 p.m., then repeats.

-

These are just a few of the options you have that isn’t the Super Bowl.  Regardless, have a great weekend!

Cinema Static on Brusimm logo

We’re all wondering what’s up with some of our favorite shows from some of our favorite networks…  so I dug up all my press releases and scoured the web and my arms are tired…  oh, wrong joke.  I’ve pulled together the 2010/2011 season return/premiere dates for A&E, ABC, AMC, BBC America, Cartoon Network, CBS, The CW, DirecTV, FOX, FX, HBO, NBC, Showtime, STARZ, The Syfy Channel, TNT & USA networks.

Some dates are generic as in Spring or Summer of 2011, while others are still to be determined (TBD).

Where show titles start with ‘the’, I’ve put it at the end of the title for sorting purposes.  The Cape will look like Cape, The;  Apprentice, The; Walking Dead, The; and so forth.  I did that because sometimes I don’t remember that there’s a ‘the’ at the beginning of a show’s name so what the heck.

Don’t Be Confused by one particular show in the list, Being Human.  It’s been on BBC America for a few years and while it is still actively in production and airing on BBC, the Syfy Channel has done their own re-imagined version.  Yep, I don’t get it either.  The date for Caprica is a marathon date…  all remaining episodes will air on January 4th.

Speaking of Caprica, there are four shows we’re saying farewell to for this 2010/2011 midseason schedule:  Caprica, Friday Night LightsLife Unexpected, Medium & Undercovers.

There are a lot of shows that I don’t cover on the site but since I was pulling the info together I thought I’d include it all.  Below are several lists.  Don’t be fooled.  It’s the same list sorted a million ways because I don’t know how to put one listing in a post with sortable headers.  Besides, being the Excel guru that I think I am, it was just easier to sort and sort and sort.

Tables are sorted thus:

  • 1st chart by TV Series name,
  • 2nd chart by date,
  • 3rd chart by network.

At least that’s the plan, here under the Cinema Static column on Brusimm.com!  I’ve highlighted in the alphabetical list which shows we watch and I suddenly get why I’m so dang tired these days!!!

UPDATED with new premiere date for Smallville and Supernatural.

Syfy Channel

The Syfy Channel orders more of its reality based programming for its fans by adding seasons for Ghost Hunters International, Fact or Faked: Parnormal Files & Hollywood Treasure.

The Syfy Channel has ordered up a second season of it’s “reality” show called Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files.   In it, a team of people with experience in different fields of expertise band together and try to replicate events and videos of things that have been reported or video taped.  They take the same approach as Ghost Hunters does when they tackle a case, where they look at the issue from a point of view that is as pragmatic as possible and if something has an earthly explanation, they show us that perspective.

The team from Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files consists of a former FBI agent, scientist, a special effects man, a journalist, a photographer and stunt man.

Production for the series 2nd will commence in early 2011.

Syfy Channel's Ghost Hunters International

Ghost Hunters International has had a third season ordered up an additional season of its Ghost Hunters franchise and the team can take their scientifically based explorative ghost hunting methods to the TV and our living rooms for yet one more season.
