I finally got around to catching Haywire, and I have to say, it is an interesting movie, to say the least. And thus, an overdue PPV movie review.
Haywire stars Gina Carano as secret agent/black ops/ super soldier butt-kicker in a movie about a betrayed secret agent, mainly, her.
Other cast includes appearances by Michael Douglas, Antonio Banderas, Ewan McGregor (more than brief), Michael Fassbender, Bill Paxton and a few more.
The movie starts out with a quick ass-beating between her and a work peer played by Channing Tatum. We then get a flashback that felt more like a 70′s action flick.
We skip about from town to town, following different events from her professional life in the spy hood.
All the while, in the present, she’s telling all this to a total stranger that she kidnapped earlier.
Talking to a third-party stranger in present time, telling him all this background info… for what reason, I’m not sure of. We’ve not been made privy to this reason.
It took forty-two (42) minutes to get the point in the story where she gets betrayed and hence, her motivation for her rampaging revenge. Or at least to the point of what I expected to see from the movie synopsis.
The action fun starts with about 25 minutes left in the film.
