Brusimm Cinema Static TV NewsGads, I haven’t done any kind of decent TV news in a long time!  Sorry about that!  Here’s some TV news, or casting news, to be exact for Grey’s Anatomy, CSI and Justified cast additions:

-

Grey’s Anatomy

Over on TV Line, they’re reporting that Halley Fain (Gossip Girl) will be joining Grey’s Anatomy as a recurring love interest for Eric Dane’s character.

Fain’s character will be an ophthalmologist at another hospital.

-

CSI

News last season was that Marg Helgenberger’s Catherine character in CSI was going to be leaving the show in the first few episodes of the season.

Sandra Oh and James Pickens Jr. in 'Grey's Anatomy'

In the season premiere of the 8th season of Grey’s Anatomy, if you saw it, you know that the Chief, played by James Pickens Jr., admitted to mucking with Derek’s clinical trial to protect Meredith and get her her job back.

But for all intent purposes, it looks like Dr. Richard Webber  is exiting the job.  But that seems to have folks worried.

What is it with Dr. Webber always looking like he might be leaving?  Is James Picking Jr. leaving Grey’s Anatomy?

Hang tight faithful fans of Grey’s Anatomy.  If you want to learn who is taking over for the Chief or for that matter, what is the chief going to do now that he’s taken the fall for Meredith, read on.

But beware, there are a few spoilers in store for you:

Cinema Static - TV News, Movie News and other Entertainment OpinionThe season premiere for Grey’s Anatomy was like most of their season premieres, with a wee bit of a huge accident that involves the entire team to rally together and deal with.

That is, except for Meredith Grey, who was fired because of her tampering with Derek’s clinical trials.

I have no sympathy for Meredith getting fired. But then, when things look bad, she makes them worse by running off with hers and Derek’s adoptee.

That complicates things with the adoption process.

Then there’s Owen and Cristina.  Eesh.  Though she really wishes she could want a baby, she does not and there in lies the crux of the matter.

New Movies & TV Shows on DVD and Blu-ray

-New DVD and Blu-ray releases coming out this week on September 13th include adventures in a galaxy far, far away (Star Wars) on Blu-ray; Asgardian gods with Chris Hemsworth as Thor; and a few TV shows hitting the new DVD release list like the most excellent Starz TV series Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, Glee, Supernatural, Grey’s Anatomy and a bunch more of TV shows!

(R.I.P. Andy Whitfield; 1974-2011)

Plus I had just received some news a the entire Farscape series coming to Blu-ray.  No, Farscape is not coming out this week, but at a later date.  But I thought it’s cool news for fans of the series I thought I’d share!

Other Blu-ray news includes the entire Star Wars saga… well, at least what movies have been released to date, has come out in a whopping big Blu-ray release, due out September 16th.  I have press release details for that down at the bottom of this article, if you need to weigh out your options and are considering picking up this new packaging product, you can check out those details below.

There are a lot of first time to Blu-ray [Blu-ray] movie titles vs. new movies just hitting the market.

With that said, let’s see what’s coming out this week and you can set and plot what you might be interested in either ordering online or heading out to pick up from your local retail store:

TV News (Mostly)

Hey gang, as a one man show I can’t always scribble out everything I see and want to… so here are some pieces, or bits & pieces of news bites I’ve seen during the week from projects such as Desperate Housewives, Grey’s Anatomy, Supernatural, House, Friday Night Lights and a thought on that box office battle between Cowboys & Smurfs:

Desperate Housewives Sad News

First up…  This season is the final season of Desperate Housewives.  Viewers have found themselves getting tired of the same old routine of chatty, nosy neighbors getting into the same hijinks every week and the ratings have dictated the death of the show.

This news came from TV Line.

House’s New Dean of Medicine

TV Line reported what they called a spoiler, and said that the person taking over the Dean position that Cuddy vacates will be…

But rather than tell us what/who, they gave us a list of 7 characters, that they said, one of them will be the dean.  So with that, here’s the list they provided:

Dr. Jeffrey Cole (Edi Gathegi), Dr. James Wilson (Robert Sean Leonard), Dr. Eric Foreman (Omar Epps), Dr. Robert Chase (Jesse Spencer), Dr. Chris Taub (Peter Jacobson), Dr. Sam Carr (Cynthia Watros) & Edward Vogler (Chi McBride).

Now any veteran character would be an awesome choice…  but then there’s the new blood that could make everyone’s day a hectic crab of fun.

I’m sticking my neck out on the line and saying it will be new blood.  That will mix it up a bit for the formulaic approach the show has been following since its inception.  At least that’s my thought on the list of “spoiler” names that TV Line presented.

Grey’s Anatomy News

-

With most of the cast’ contracts coming due by the end of season 8 of Grey’s Anatomy, you’d think that with the popularity of the show, everyone would be on board.

Yet Patrick Dempsey must have other, bigger plans and has said that he will be leaving the show after the end of season 8.  Season 7 just finished up and left us with a doozy.

On top of Patrick Dempsey‘s announcement, exec producer Shonda Rhimes has also said that the 8th season of the the series was what she was planning to be the last for the original cast.  But then she followed that up with “It might be the last hurrah for a lot of them; you never know.”

Rhimes is messing with our heads.

I can see most of the cast going on after season 8, if for anything, the fact that it’s a paying gig and the last time I checked, not too many folks walk out on paying gigs.

If you’re a fan of either Kim Raver (Grey’s Anatomy) or Oprah Winfrey, they’ll be appearing on The Nate Berkus Show next week.  I believe these two episodes are in are repeats, (There’s an (R) behind each of these episode numbers) but if you missed them the first time, now’s your chance to maybe play catch up on it.

Kim Raver will appear on the show in ‘Show Number 1157′, slated to air on Monday, May 30th, 2011.  In this public appearance, she’ll be chatting about the season finale of Grey’s Anatomy.  If you’ve seen the season finale, it might be curious fun to watch Raver chat around points, trying not to give up things we already know!

Episode number 1161 has Oprah Winfrey in it, where Nate Berkus visits her in her home in Montecito, CA. and she gives him the full-on tour of “The Promised Land.”  (That’s what she calls this home of hers.)  I’ve been to Montecito a bunch of times and that is one beautiful little village/town.

Grey’s Anatomy Review

-

In the season finale of Grey’s Anatomy, things became a very heated set of tensions, all the while, peppered within the angst, were some feel-good moments or points. With Meredith Grey’s (Ellen Pompeo) newest secret about her tampering with Derek’s (Patrick Dempsey) clinical trials being out, things are hot.  If you recall, in a drunken state Karev (Justin Chambers) gave her up to Owen (Kevin McKidd).  But when questioned, all Grey does is not answer, thinking that will protect the program.

Chief Webber (James Pickens Jr.) was going to fire Grey, but when he discovers that she did this to get the right drugs to his wife who was in the program, he lightens up and only suspends Grey.  At this point in time, everyone is hating on Karev.

Yang (Sandra Oh) discovers that she is pregnant, but she’s not having anything to do with it and will not have the baby.  This pisses off Owen to the point of where he kicks her out.  She’s so damn career driven, she doesn’t even give Owen the opportunity to be part of the decision.

Come on, we know how focused she’s always been about her career.
