The Oscars AKA The Academy AwardsOn Tuesday, January 24th, the nominations for the 84th Annual Academy Awards were announced.

Below are the lists, first, taking note of which movie got how many noms…  First by category and then I sort the Academy Award nominations by movie title.

The nominations seemed a little light on the original song & makeup below.  The number of nods are not surprising for a few of these films, but I would have thought that if a movie had nominations for writing, or best picture, or directing, that those same nods would have potentially garnered some actors getting their own nods off that work.  But that’s just me wondering out-loud about the celebrated processes at work behind the scenes of Hollywood.

Cinema Static Box Office Numbers - Top-10 MoviesThis weekend, the number 1 movie spot finally changed hands, ending a multi-week run by Summit Entertainment’s The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn at the top spot of the top-10 movies from this weekend.

The estimated number 1 at the box office this weekend is New Year’s Eve, followed by the other new movie for the weekend, The Sitter.

Breaking Dawn settled into the third spot this weekend, followed by The Muppets. The Muppets continue to trail Breaking Dawn, not matter what they try with their marketing!

Arthur Christmas rounded out the top-5 of the top-10 movies.
