This Friday, the new movie collection at the box office (Nov 12th) include aliens, trains & morning shows. They bring Eric Balfour, Denzel Washington and Harrison Ford to the big screen this week.
Box Office Numbers
Last Week Megamind took control of the box office with the recently announced over-paid actor, Wil Ferrell. Megamind pulled in $46 million, followed up by Due Date starring Robert Downey Jr., which made just under $33 million. For Colored Girls made close to $20 million. Side note: The movie that took just under $3 million to make, Paranormal Activity 2, is still making money, now at $77 million at the box office.
New Movie at the Box Office List
Skyline
The most anticipated opening movie this week is Skyline. They made a great big splash at the 2010 Comic Con event in San Diego where the movie, after flying under the radar, suddenly jumped into the limelight last July and it has been a nice slow crawl into the top of the headlines.
Skyline is another alien invasion movie brought to us by the same guys that brought us visual effects in Jonah Hex, Iron Man 2, The Book of Eli, Avatar and other super awesome movies, The Brothers Strause. They’ve directed & produced this new space invasion which stars Eric Balfour, Scottie Thompson, Brittany Daniel and others.

This week, we have a few opening movies coming up and one of them actually opens on an off-day, Wednesday. That’s the Vampires Suck parody that by the previews, looks funny. Whether it actually is or not, is another matter altogether.
But on Friday, August 20th, we have a few choice comedies or traumas, depending how you look at them.
Opening movies on Friday are Piranha 3D, The Switch, Nanny McPhee Returns & Lottery Ticket.

Piranha 3D

While Piranha 3D is a mainstream movie, it’s reminiscent of one of those entertaining (I did not say good) Syfy Channel Saturday Night Original movies.
I’m surprised though, at the cast of Piranha 3D, where it includes Elisabeth Shue, Eli Roth, Kelly Brook, Richard Dreyfuss, Ving Rhames, Christopher Lloyd, Jerry O’Connell & bunches more in what I’m calling the pack of mini-Jaws attacking scantily clad teens… yet again.
If anything, I’ve learned how to spell piranha over these last few months.
