It’s seemingly official, and that is that the Supernatural character, Bobby Singer, is dead.  But that’s OK, since Jim Beaver is headed off to Justified!

Bobby Singer is a character played by Jim Beaver on the CW network series, Supernatural.  The series stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, brothers, who up until now, have depended heavily from time to time on their mentor, Bobby’s help.

Idjits.

But when Bobby was shot, I wasn’t too worried because several months prior, Sera Gamble said that he’ll be a fixture for many seasons to come.

Boy, did I bite that bait!

Wow, was that not a powerful episode of Supernatural or what?  The last episode of Supernatural saw the Leviathon, Dick Roman, put a bullet in Bobby Singers (Jim Beaver) head.

The following TV review is full of SPOILERS, so proceed at your own risk!

Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki in Supernatural ep Death's Door

In the mid-season finale episode titled “Death’s Door,” we find ourselves split between two worlds.  The one where Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki) are waiting, worried, in the hospital, and the other where Bobby is floating around through various memories of his life.

Supernatural Recap

As the Supernatural episode started, I feared that what we were seeing in the first 15 minutes was going to be some silly collection of scene recaps.  I feared the doldrums.  Silly me, what was I thinking?

Brusimm Cinema Static TV NewsTV news for New Girl & Supernatural

New Girl

Nothing says terrible luck like getting a new show that makes the cut, and then getting cut for a few weeks by sports!

New Girl found itself getting a full season pickup by Fox, but then now the show is on hiatus until November 1.  For the next three weeks, in its place, will be the MLB playoffs, X Factor and the World Series.

And if we all remember, when shows get put on breaks, it sometimes is a crap shoot that folks will remember they liked it when it comes back.

But it’s only three weeks, so we’ll see how that goes.

The following news bits came from the Comic Con panels for The Vampire Dairies, Supernatural and Doctor Who.  This article closes out all my notes from last weekend and now, I have to sort out my pictures from the weekend and go from there… Comic Con pics coming soon!  -

"Comic Con" News

The Vampire Diaries

The Vampire Diaries Comic Con panel really didn’t produce much news… just really great banter amongst the panelists:

The panel included Joseph Morgan, Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder, Candice Accola and Paul Wesley.  Exec producer Kevin Williamson was also there.

Another panel birthday at Comic Con, this time the crowd sang happy birthday to Paul Wesley.

Speaking of Wesley, he said he’ll be enjoying embracing the darker side of Stefan.

Dobrev said she likes playing both characters.  Something about the nest of both worlds.

We have not seen the last of Elijah.

Damon is not happy how things are turning out at the moment.

Supernatural Season Finale Review

-

When Supernatural on The CW kicked in their sixth season, I think many people were wondering how it would go.  Eric Kripke had stepped back and Sera Gamble stepped up and took the creative reigns.  I have to say that as far as I can tell, Supernatural didn’t skip a beat.  The classic rock music injected perfectly, the humor that lies underneath the stories and the story itself, the main plot, underneath it all, moved forward.  Sometimes in tiny pieces and sometimes in entire episodes.

Albeit it, the show kept its charm and character and was not disappointing in this extra, or sixth season.  I say extra because Kripke only had five seasons mapped out.  He stepped back because his story was done.  But when the CW renewed the series, they had to step up, and I’m sure the fans are glad they did.  That’s when Sera Gamble stepped in.  And having been one of Kripke’s right-hand persons, she had taken her notes well and employed them rather well.

With that, herein lies my recap/review of the sixth season finale of Supernatural

Spoilers are abound:

In the first part/episode of the Supernatural season closer, titled “Let It Bleed,” it starts out with Crowley (Mark Sheppard) stepping outside his boundaries and kidnapping Lisa and Ben to keep Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) busy.  Busy trying to find them.  But Crowley had stepped out of line doing this, but regardless of how angry Cas (The ever popular fan favorite Misha Collins) is about this, Crowley doesn’t care anymore.

'Smallville' episode promo pic for "Prophecy" The suit of Superman, the man of steel

'Smallville' episode promo pic for "Prophecy", The suit of Superman

The series finale of Smallville is airing tonight in a 2-hour finale on The CW that promises to be a very exciting television event for the fans.  Despite some lows in story, there have also been some highs and through it all, we’ve stuck by the show.  Having started with the series, watching it for so long, how can you not see it through?

Via Smallville, on The CW we’ve been introduced to the vision of a reimagined Superman originally conceived and brought to us by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar.  Over the last 10 years we’ve been introduced to Tom Welling, Allison Mack, Kristen Kreuk, Michael Rosenbaum, Erica Durance, Justin Hartley and many many more.

By ‘introduced’ I mean brought to our attention, not necessarily first time to TV.

Yes, he runs for a phone booth too!

Tom Welling has become a producer and other cast have come to be a part of our awareness as we start to follow them in other ventures.  The most popular of the cast could very well be Michael Rosenbaum.

Through the last ten years, we’ve cried for the series to break the rules of ‘no tights’ but we’ve come to learn they had other legal obligations they had to operate by.  We’ve never seen Batman or Wonder Woman or The Flash, but we’ve seen other characters or representations of these characters in different ways.

Jensen Ackles as Dean, Jared Padalecki as Sam in SUPERNATURAL on The CW

Last week’s episode of Supernatural on The CW, titled “Mommy Dearest,” was the follow-up to the previous episode where Sam and Dean headed to the old west to collect some ashes of a phoenix. The ashes are the one thing that can kill Mother… or Eve.

I don’t think I mentioned how far-out that western episode was. No, I could buy into the time travel trip that Cas sent them on. No, I could buy into Supernatural‘s version of a phoenix.

The wildly fictional, bordering on science fiction thing that caught my eye was the premise that the U.S. Postal Service delivered something, on time, period! Never mind through a few hundred years!

-

In “Mommy Dearest” we had more absolutely classic and timeless Supernatural humor, as they always manage to deliver!

When the team discovers where Eve is holed up and working her magic, Cas (Misha Collins) pops the lot of them into the town. But then Cas has no powers. He became, flaccid in the ability to use his powers and the moment was extended long enough to make a pretty funny scene.

But then Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) find Eve and go in blazing… sort of, except, they can’t blaze because Eve was expecting them and they’re surrounded and all that business!

Supernatural is returning to the CW this Friday night, April 15th, with the episode titled “My Heart Will Go On”… ah, the breaks are way too long and the networks, too cruel!

But alas, I’ve landed some video footage of interviews with Supernatural stars Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Jim Beaver and Misha Collins, and writer/producer Ben Edlund.

After the FearNet video red carpet interviews from Palyfest, check out the preview of tomorrow’s episode!

The few things we’ve come to enjoy from Supernatural starring Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, is some good demon butt kicking and subtle and not so subtle wise cracking humor.  The butt kicking is entertaining and the humor is done just right and rarely if ever, overdone.

Jensen Ackles as Dean, Jared Padalecki as Sam in SUPERNATURAL on The CW

In the Supernatural episode titled “The French Mistake,” writer Ben Edlund took that humor and applied it to a cruel, alternate world where Sam and Dean are actually known as these two overpaid, goofball actors, Jared Padalecki & Jensen Ackles.  LOL.

This is another episode based on a cruel TV-based world.  The previous TV episode where the Winchester brothers were stuck in a TV game show world was pretty damn funny, but this episode went a step further and made fun of itself, its cast and showrunners.  All while still continuing to further the battle between good and evil, or Rafael and Cass.

I loved bits and pieces of this episode.

When Jared describes that they’re stars of a show that isn’t watched by that many people,

Jared Padalecki as Sam, Genevieve Padalecki as Ruby/Genevieve in SUPERNATURAL on The CW

When we see that Jared Padalecki is married to Genevieve Cortese, aka Genevieve Padalecki, who played Ruby in the series.  (FOOTNOTE for the casual fan:  Jared and Genevieve really are married… they got married in Feb 2010.)

In the upcoming episode of Supernatural, titled “Mannequin 3: Reckoning,” Dean gets a call from Ben telling him that Lisa is in trouble. Dean heads off to deal with that situation, leaving Sam alone to tackle a case.

Jeannot Szwarc directed the Supernatural episode written by Eric Charmelo & Nicole Snyder.
